Replacing main power supply to Plasma displays is not an easy job as you thinks. There are so many adjustments should be done after replacement. If you wish to get more details about these, check this link. Pull up older posts there. Details with illustrations can be seen there.

If you are not familiar with electronics, do not attempt to repair. Whether you suffer fatal electrical shock! Instead, contact any experienced service technician, or the nearest service center.

SOURCE: Samsung PS42C7S Power Board

A blinking led does point to a bad power supply board! First, Look for some bad caps (capacitors) on the board. They will look bulged on the top an may be a little leaky (brownish stain).

You should be able to find a service manual @ www.manualzone.com

Buying a power board try www.shopjimmy.com or ebay!

Good luck, hope this is helpful!!!

SOURCE: red light on power button flashes, but no picture....blank screen

I would suspect a problem in either the backlight assembly, or the power supply that drives it. If it's the power supply, the part may be over $100.

SOURCE: Samsung LN-T2632H won't turn on.

Follow these steps to figure out what problem is.
When you turn on TV, look at the back and see if the back light on. If it is on, the power supply and inverter work fine. The suspection now is main board and T-con board (the small board on the middle-top of the panel)
To find the problem from the main board or not. Look at the power supply and measure Vs on - turn on the TV, this approx 5 vlt DC needs constant once you turn on the TV. If it is drop or unstable - main board problem - replace it.
If Vs on is good - disconnect the T-con cable from the power sup. If power sup stop clicking - T-con need replacing. Hope it help.

SOURCE: New Samsung LCD TV won't turn on or off

This is the best solution for your problem as a 40 year experience with wires etc. Go to the source of your cable signal connector . Open it and clean the terminals with emery paper , sand the end of the cable shiny clean from corrosion , get a new barrel connectors with gold terminals if possible lengthen the ends of the cable , insert and tighten good, use thick rg-16 or rg 40 cable with good insulation ends crimped professionally with a crimpier or buy ready made , not from dollar store. Get a gold plated professional splitter if you need one or two , it will cost about 15 or more each . Make the cable runs as short as possible, using the thick good cables. If needed get a signal magnifier. From radio shack or the source etc. Connect them good and tight . Ground the splitters . Problem solved , you will get crystal clear channel 2 to 7 including 3 and 4 . Isolate the TV cable from other cables and power wires. Vitally

LG Tv backlights won't come on. Replaced bad LED strips and did not fix. Should I move to replace power supply/LED driver?

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Samsung TV (model UN40H6203AF) 40" LED. No picture, have sound. Flashlight test can see faint menu screen. Have replaced power supply & main boards to this point. Ideas as to what to do next?

Hi Terry,

If you can see the faint picture in flash light means the power supply and the main board is working. The real culprit is the backlight. Even one bad LED in the backlight will switch off the whole array. To repair this fault the panel has to be opened and the defective LED or LEDs are to be replaced.

This is a complicated, delicate and risky job and must be attempted by an expert only. You may end up damaging the screen permanently if you have not done it before and try to DIY.
