Most rowing machines can be stored vertically to take up less floorspace. This is also where the caster wheels can come in handy to help you move the rower to a corner, nook or cupboard, and the folding nature of some rowers like the Concept 2 can be helpful for storage in a small space.

I am in the same boat, currently looking for an answer on this one. It is a really abnoxious squeak. Tried WD-40 but no luck. Not sure where the problem is even coming from.

If the console has a battery, most likely it is worn out already. You need to replace the battery. Some rower consoles does not easily expose the battery. You have to open it with screw drivers.

9volts DC at 300ma looks to be a suitable voltage and current to charge 4 AAA cells.

If it looks to fit you could purchase one for proof of concept. Try it out one one that is lacking in some way, and see if it charges 4 rechargeable AAA batteries. If it does not look like it plugs in, and the handset needs a cradle to charge, forget it, as I don't even know if you have a budget, and consider plan B.

If they are only to be used for training purposes you could consider running off batteries, changing them when flat. You could go through a huge number of alkalines, so rechargable might be advisable.

I don't know what you can get locally, but I get rechargeable batteries and chargers from China offeBay at ridiculously low cost, pity about the 2 to 3 week postage delay.
It's a rough and grotty solution, but may do for proof of concept.
And who knows? I'm in Australia and like the free postage options, you may be able to do better.

You didn't say what model you have, but I believe they are all functionally similar to my Model B rower. There is a "skewer" assembly inside the seat rail with a shock cord and pulley's that keeps tension in the chain throughout its range of travel. To some extent it is adjustable by taking slack out of the shock cord. On mine, this can be done by grabbing the shock cord adjustment mechanism ("SCAM") with pliers and pulling it out of the rear of the machine and adjusting the slack. If it is very loose or you just want to be sure of what is going on, the entire skewer assembly pulls out from the front (flywheel side) of the seat rail after removing four screws that hold it in place. Go to the concept2 website for diagrams, instructions, and parts lists for your model.

the 3 beeping sound means that the camera has low battery capacity. the lens is stuck out because there is incorrect battery connection. there is an option on the camera setting for the battery type. try this one:
-turn the camera on
-click on Menu button
-select options using left/right, up/down button
-select Set up 2
-Select Battery type
-Select Alkaline for non-rechargable
or Ni-MH for rechargable
-click OK button

this setting should be done when using camera for the first time and whenever you are switching battery types, from rechargable to non-rechargable and vice versa.
