I suppose the new laptop has Vista on it.
therefore
find out the settings for the new provider and connect to the router with ethernet cable.
type in the browser address bar the address of the router interface:
192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 usually.
put in the password (usually default is admin)and copy the settings in the corresponding fields,
usually there's a wizard for this.
the make sure to go in the wireless settings and set the wireless to enabled. find an option like DHCP server and make sure it's enabled. you can enter a passcode for your wireless, but it's not required, you can also set it to unsafe mode...
the you should be able to go to:
start>control panel>network center>connect to.
and connect to the wireless network
the you are probably good and should be surfing the web

My WRT54GC router suddenly stop passing internet through it after 4 years of uninteruped service. But all the LED s are on as they should be. I can not get either wired (my desk top) or wireless (lap top)...

Has your modem been hard reset recently? if so, it may require that you bridge the modem out to work with the router- ESP. if you use Verizon DSL. If so, contact your ISP, and ask for assistance in bridging out the modem.

Cannot install D-Link router

1. check your wireless adapter TCP/IP settings if its set into "Obtain as IP address Automatically".
2. if the settings is set as Automatic and your not getting IP address then select "Use the following IP Address"
3. use IP address followed to your router address like if192.168.0.1 in router type 192.168.0.2 or192.168.0.3 just check the next address IP in your network.
4. after typing subnet IP will automatically set
5. type the router IP address as your default gateway
6. click OK to save your new settings

Hope this will help

Wireless Router use with Wildblue Satelite Modem

You should be aware of a class action lawsuit that Belkin and the complaintent settled recently. The lawsuit was filed complaining that certain Belkin routers did not obtain optimal speeds as advertised.
Belkin has agreed to provide affected customers a discount program to purchase a new router. You will need to search elsewheres for the details.

D link Router & my laptop

Debugging the issue -- this is not a solution.

Have you plugged a computer into the router if possible using an ethernet connection? Did it successfully access the internet?

If not the ISP (modem?) side of your router is probably configured incorrectly for your ISP

If that works wireless routers and adapters operate different bands I know of A, B, G and N. Do both your router and adapter card have at least one of those bands in common?

At any time have you attempted on the laptop to connect with the router? When connecting do you see your router by name? has your router been set to a unique name so you aren't confused seeing one of your neighbor's routers?

Did you enable encryption (WEP or WPA) in either the router or the wireless adapter and not enable it in the other?

Do you have MAC filtering on in you router and forgot to enter the wireless cards MAC accress?

Please reply with as many answers as you know and we can step through the process to attempt to complete the connection.

Also please provide the manufacturer and model for each of the following
Your router, your laptop and your network adapter

Please provide the operating system installed on your laptop,

If the wired connection to the internet does not work please provide the name of your internet service provider.
