Line in scanned item

I am in the process of scanning pictures from albums. I just recently noticed that many of the pictures have a line through the picture. I have cleaned the glass, but the line still exists....

The line appears to be the same each time. I have cleaned the glass but still have the issue. I will try wiping the photographs before scanning. Could anything (like dust) get on the scan module?

Is the line in the same location everytime? Then the there is dust on the glass. If it keeps shifting, wipe the photographs before scanning. If the line appears same thickness at the same location, may be the scan module is damaged, but this is generally rare.

If the line is at the same location in the image, it is from the Scanner. There are two possibilities. Either there is dust on the Glass or the Scan module is damaged. If there is dust in the Scan module, the line may appear little jagged (when you zoom you will see steps) at various levels of contrast/brightness. If the scan module is damaged, you will get a very crisp line at  all contrast levels.

If the location of the line is at different location everytime, then it is casued by the Photograph/document. Then you have to clean the documents before scanning and ofcourse clean the glass to remove the line casued by the previous photograph/document.

What dos interlaced mean

picture is scanned every other line from top to bottom and so fast the human eye does not see it comes back and scans every other line top to bottom it did not scan the first time, hence interlaces the lines for a picture.

Why is it that when I scanned a picture or document that there is a line running through the scanned picture?

A line usually will run through your picture if your scanner has some dirt on the glass. Try the following: -
Take a soft clean clothe/tissue and ensure the glass where you place your document for scanning is dazzling clean. You may do this repeatedly as the mark might be very small.
This worked recently for the hp 3050 psc and fax machine and am sure might work for you.
Please let me know this help you.

How do i scan using a HP desktop F380

Deskjet F380 features a scanner within the upper portion of the device. "Scanning" an item describes the electronic process of converting pictures or text to data, then transferring that data to the computer as an image. Scanning an item into the computer is a simple task with the F380, the only limitation is the size of the item,
follow the steps below
Step 1
Turn the unit on by pressing the "On" button located at the top control panel. The control panel is located on the left side of the unit. The "On" button will illuminate to indicate that the unit is receiving power.
  • Step 2 Load the scanner with the item to be scanned. First, lift the lid of the F380 to the upright position to reveal the scanning surface. Place the item to be scanned face down onto the scanning surface. Position the item so that the edge of the item rests squarely against the front left-hand corner of the scanning surface, then close the unit's lid.
  • Step 3 Press the "Scan" button located at the lower left-hand corner of the F350's control panel to start the scan. If necessary, the scanning process can be stopped by pressing the "Cancel" button located just to the left of the "X" on the control panel.
  • Step 4 Save the scanned image to the computer when the scan is complete by clicking the "Accept" button on the window that appears on the computer's monitor.

Trying to scan and then attach as document an 8.5 x 11 paper

Usually there will be a dashed line that is around the image. Sometimes it will just surround a darker portion of an image, such as the text portion on a white piece of paper. This is common. Use the mouse and aim it at the dashed line and "pull" the lines to the edges of your document, then press accept. This should fix your problem.

Epson V300 Photo Scanner Streak When Scanning Negative

I also own a v300, and I have noticed that I occasionally get rainbow streaks if I bump the scanner at all while it is scanning negatives, so this might have something to do with vibrations in the machine. Is it sitting on a stable surface?
