Question edited for a lot more clarity. It is actually a 'Pitching Machine', rather than a 'batting machine'.
They do different types, but moved to Atec Baseball category.

Use two drops of light machine oil like 3inOne on the pitching wheel spindles and any other rotating parts like the motor shaft.

That is probably the flyback transformer and may be dangerous to service by yourself. Get a pro to look at it and stay safe. Voltages inside TV sets can exceed 10,000 volts AC.

Have you contacted Iron Mike yet. Most small a/c motors only go in one direction. Need more info. Was it was working correctly, then changed? Or did you buy it used this way? If the machine is NOT turned off in the correct position, then restarted quickly, it will run backwards and jam up the chain.
