While cooking a roast (a $10 loss now) the lid exploded; glass shards went everywhere. They offered to send me a new pot; cannot tell me if the next one will also explode.

Why is it so hard to find where I can buy a replacement crock pot insert for my rival ScvP600. It has a crack in it. Is it like a timex, where I should just throw it all away after a few uses?

SOURCE: LId to 6 quart crock pot shattered
I have a 5-quart crockpot that cracked across the bottom. I've been using the crockpot liners, and they seem to work very well. No leaks, etc., and food seems to cook just as well as before the crockpot cracked. The liners sure do make cleaning up a lot easier, too!

most of the time NO but i would try setting it in place and locking down the lid and do nothing for a day or so , do not heat it ,just leave it . after a day remove the lid and see if the gasket looks normal if not REPLACE IT ......... what do you have to loose , just a little time , but just so you know those gaskets dont last forever , your should get one if you can ,just to have in case
SOURCE: Need plastic handle on Rival Crockpot lid.
For what it's worth, when the handle on my mother-in-law's crockpot broke, I went to Home Depot and bought a cheap wooden drawer knob (about $1 as I recall). I put a plastic washer between the knob and the glass and another under the screw head from the bottom (to prevent cracking the lid), tightened the screw and good as new.
