Do you have a store near Rowville? And do you sell a rubber mat to put on a wooden table and under a tablecloth? What width does it come in?

The traditional table protector is made of fine soft felt with a wipe clean coating.

Search online for felt table protectors and you will discover a variety of prices and sizes.

The main concern of people who have bought a fine table or dining suite, apart from accidental damage, is fading caused by sunlight.
It was typical to find a fine table covered with a felt protector and covered with a heavyweight everyday tablecloth, which in turn was covered with a finer tablecloth at mealtimes.

A soft woollen blanket, usually dyed dark bottle green was often used instead of the heavyweight everyday tablecloth.

I stitched a Tuscany Tablecloth and now want to launder and use. Is there any backing I can put on this to cover the stitching?

It would help if I knew what a Tuscany tablecloth exactly. Do you mean it is made of lace ? What fibre is it made from ? Cotton, linen, polyester, a blend, something else ?

If it is lace, putting a backing on it may not be needed. I'd place it into a large bag, like a pillowcase, unfolded. The case will protect it from a lot of rubbing. Presoak if there are stains.

I don't think I'd use a top loading washing machine because it may twist the fabric too much. Front loaders do not twist fabric around like an top loader does, so may be ok to use, on gentlest cycle, with cold water or just warm water.

Or send it to be dry cleaned instead, which can be the safest option for some delicate fabrics.

How to remove wrinkles from polyester table cloth?

After unfolding a new tablecloth, you'll quickly notice those pesky creases. Even after washing and drying the tablecloth, they may still be there and with wrinkles too. Before you iron a polyester tablecloth -- which if done incorrectly may burn, melt, stain or shrink the fabric -- try rewashing and drying it in a manner that reduces wrinkles and helps get rid of creases. Then, iron only if necessary.

How much does a cheap tablecloth cost?

Online, cheap tablecloths can be purchased for as little as 5 or 8$, with the price going up or down according to size.
However, there might be shops in areas where home items may be purchased for cheap, where there might be tablecloths being sold for just a few dollars.

Can I make my own tablecloth?

Certainly. Tablecloths can be purchased as well as made. There are several ways to do so.
First of all many home shops or even craft shops have big rolls of material that can be cut according to need and used as tablecloth. They are sometimes waxed or laminated and therefore don't need any sawing, or the shop might offer the service. This way the customer can choose the pattern and size according to his or her own taste.
But there is also the option of simply buying the amount of fabric needed from fabric stores, where they have long rolls of fabric, and saw the material into all kinds of sizes and shapes. This permits more freedom but requires some skill
