I know it's an older post, but you still may be waiting an answer:
What is probably happening is Your power board is failing to maintain power enough to run the bulbs and the rest.
That is why it takes long to start up and why it goes into sleep mode.
Does the power button stay lit (getting signal) or turn to amber (sleep mode) or does it flash.
You do NOT need a driver. Your monitor is broken. The high voltage power supply that provides power to light the CCFL cold cathode fluorescent lights is broken. The most common problem is that the 470uF 25V capacitors on the power supply circuit board are bad. Bad Caps have a swollen and sometimes leaky top. There are 6 capacitors that cost about 50 cents apiece from www.partsexpress.com . Buy high temperature replacement capacitors rated at 105C. If you can't de-solder and resolder have some 14 year old kid do it for you.
Bad Inverter. Or a surface mount component on the inverter. Either way it needs to be trouble shot down to the component level or replace the inverter board.
i just had this problem with my screen (proview pl716s) if you open the case and take out the power board, there are 6 470 uf capasitors bundled together and 1 220uf capasitor replace all 7 and that should fix your problem , that is what i did and it worked like a charm , oh and btw make sure before you swap your monitor from an older standard monitor to the lcd make sure the resolution is high enough becuase if it is not then the monitor will not be able to be displayd , hope that helps
