Whirlpool 1145xtp dishwasher motor replacement

I received a replacement pump and motor assembly. It looks pretty straight forward, I just need to know how to remove the existing one from the machine.

Remove the bottom panel under the machine and you will see the pump and motor and work it out,IWOULD HOWEVER LIKE TO STRESS THAT IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO THIS RATHER PAY A QUALIFIED TECHNITION TO DO IT AS IF YOU DO IT AND SOMETHING GOES WRONG IT COULD COST YOU MORE AND THE MANUFACTURER WARENTY NORMALLY IS VOID IF A UNQUALIFIED PERSON FITS ANY ELECTRICAL PART,so please to save yourself a possible fortune rather pay a speciallist then pay twice for what could be once.

Whirlpool Dishwasher model GU2800XTVS1 has no lights on the control panel

BI METAL is a fuse, use an ohm meter.select ohms, place one lead on each of the 2 prongs it must read zero. If it reads anything else it must be replaced. If it has already been replaced before you may also have to replace the lead wires. It all comes in a kit and is a pretty straight forward procedure.

Sudden loud vibration from the door of my Whirlpool dishwasher. Replacing the part didn't help.

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Drain Pump If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain pump might be defective or might have some debris in it. This is a common problem.
Circulation Pump If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the circulation pump sound, it's likely that the circulation pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the circulation pump will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Drain Impeller If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain impeller might be broken, or there might be debris in the pump. Generally, to gain access to the pump the top of the pump housing will have to be removed.

Pump and Motor Assembly If the dishwasher is loud the motor bearings, drain impeller or wash impeller might have worn out. All three of these components are part of the pump and motor assembly. It may be possible to replace one of the impellers, but the motor bearings cannot be repaired. In that case the pump and motor assembly will need to be replaced.

Wash Impeller The wash impeller is a small, plastic blade. The motor spins the impeller forcing water through the spray arms to clean the dishes. If one or more blades has broken off of the impeller the dishwasher is loud. The impeller can also scrape against the pump housing if it is damaged, warped or bent.

Circulation and Drain Pump Motor If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the motor sound, it's likely that the circulation and drain pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the motor will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Water Inlet Valve The water inlet valve is an electrically controlled water valve. When it is new, the water inlet valve is very quiet. Over time, the diaphragm inside the valve deteriorates and deforms. This deformation interacts with the water rushing in and can cause a loud vibration, buzzing, squealing or other noises. If the dishwasher is loud during the filling cycle, replacing the water inlet valve may solve the problem.

This kenmore 665.17023400 dishwasher has been making popping and grinding noises for about a month now. dishes are coming out with a dirty film covering. any advice?

The pump is probably not working or nearly seized. I just replaced the part in our dishwasher from BA Filter Supply (best price I could find for a genuine Whirlpool part). Our's took W10239404 Genuine Whirlpool Dishwasher Pump & Motor Assembly for $88

The job is pretty easy to do for someone handy if you can get the dishwasher out and turn it on its back. There is even a Youtube video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjRxJy2IUE8

Dishwasher runs for appx 14 min & stops washing half way thru wash cycle. Timer contunies to run. No drain pump out (nothing). Let dishwasher set idle for appx 1 hour and it will re-set. Set timer...

This sounds like something is stuck in the drain pump. You can remove the inner cover to look for obstructions. You have a dual purpose motor it does the both circulating and draining. The blockage is causing it to overheat and trip the thermal protector. You can remove the drain assembly from underneath if you don't find anything from above. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html that walks you thru most of this. It is a different model but pretty close. If you find no obstructions the motor may be failing.

MY SON'S DISHWASHER WON't drain

Hello there:
Please try these things below my post and click on the links that are available for you ok
I hope that tthis is very helpful for you
best regards michael
Water will not drain from my dishwasher. Investigate these six areas if water will not drain from your dishwasher :
dishwasher_drain-hose.jpg Drain Hose

It is quite common for a dishwasher to not drain because either the drain hose or the air gap (if the unit has one) is clogged up. Drain hose clogs commonly occur where the hose is attached to the main household drain line, or where the hose connects with the garbage disposer. Try removing the drain hose to unclog any debris. Don't forget to reattach the hose before you start your dishwasher again.
dishwasher_pump-repair-kit.jpg Pump Assembly

The pump assembly is comprised of a pump, wash impeller, and drain impeller. The pump ejects the water from the unit, the wash impeller pushes water through the spray arm, and the drain impeller directs the water towards the drain port. Examine your dishwasher's pump assembly. Clean out any debris that may be blocking it. Replace the pump assembly if any of its parts appear to be worn or defective.
dishwasher_belt.jpg Belt

It isn't very common, but sometimes a dishwasher's pump assembly is driven by a belt. If that belt becomes worn and defective, then it cannot properly run the pump that drains your dishwasher's tub. If your dishwasher uses a drive belt, examine it now. If it shows signs of wear, replace it.
dishwasher_timer.jpg Timer

A defective timer could interfere with a dishwasher's ability to drain properly. Test your dishwasher's timer mechanism. If it is faulty, replace it. Keep in mind that you can replace either the entire timer assembly or just the timer's motor.
dishwasher_motor.jpg Motor

The motor plays a key role in a dishwasher's ability to drain water. If your dishwasher's motor is not functioning properly, it will negatively affect the draining capability of your machine. Test your dishwasher's motor for continuity. If it fails the test, replace the motor.
dishwasher_drain-solenoid.jpg Drain Valve and/or Solenoid

In some models, a valve has to open in order for the water to drain out of the dishwasher. This valve is controlled by a solenoid, but it is the timer that decides when the valve should open. If your timer is working fine, check the drain valve and its solenoid. If need be, replace them.

Dishwasher problem

First: this is what Whirlpool says!!
And after this at the bottom Is what the repair manual says when I looked it up for you!

Dishwasher is not operating properly
1.Dishwasher does not run or stops during a cycle
Is the Start/Resume indicator flashing? Opening the door or
interrupting the power stopped the cycle. Close the door and
press START/RESUME.
2.Does the Start/Resume indicator flash 3 times when you
press START/RESUME? The dishwasher is waiting for you to
open the door after the last cycle. Open and close the door,
then press START/RESUME.
3.Is the door closed tightly and latched?
(NOTE: On models with a dual-digit display, the control
displays “- -” during a cycle if it believes the door is not
latched.)
4.Is the right cycle selected? Refer to the “Cycle Selection
Charts.”
5.Is there power to the dishwasher? Has a household fuse
blown, or has a circuit breaker tripped?
6.Has the motor stopped due to an overload? The motor
automatically resets itself within a few minutes. If it does not
restart, call for service.
7.Is the water shutoff valve (if installed) turned on?
It is normal for certain cycles to repeatedly pause for several
seconds during the main wash.
___________________________________________________________

BUT, the repair manual says this

Faulty Pump and Motor Assembly Some models that will not wash or drain often have a faulty Pump and Motor Assembly. If the motor is receiving power from the timer and it is not operating that is the case.
Temporary Work-around:
With the power turned off to the unit, sometimes it is possible to manually rotate the cooling fan on the motor assembly. In certain situations where the dishwasher has set idle for a period of time, this may free the bearings enough that the unit will begin to operate. Where this works as a short term solution in some cases, it is often a sign of things to come. The frequency of the motor seizing will increase until it will simply no longer work.

I think this is a hands job that needs service and hands on attention!
I hope it's not the motor or pump!

How old is the machine?
If they tell you it is an expensive motor then you need to know this!!!!

Let me know how it goes!

Loud Whining/Humming noise while washing

It's noisy If your dishwasher seems noisy, check these:

Water-inlet valve
Motor
Heater fan
Pump
Water-inlet valve An aging water-inlet valve can sometimes fail slowly, rather than all at once. It can shudder on and off rapidly, causing the incoming water lines to shake, rumble, and rattle--sometimes violently. If yours is doing this, replace the inlet valve.

Motor If it's the motor that's noisy, either of these may be the "culprit:"

  • As motor bearings wear out, they can become quite loud when the motor runs. They wear out quickly if they frequently get wet, because the water washes away the motor bearing grease. Bearings can get wet if the spin seal is defective. Then there will also be water leaking onto the floor beneath the dishwasher. Replace the seal if it leaks (read about the main tub seal in the "It leaks" section, later).

  • If, from beneath the dishwasher, you can see a round, plastic disc that's mounted to the top of the motor (a "slinger"), it may have broken free of the motor shaft. If so, it could be rattling around the shaft while the motor is running. If that's the problem, you need to replace the motor.

Heater fan If the heater fan bearings are rusted or worn, they may squeal, or scrape loudly during the drying cycle. If this is the problem, replace the fan motor. Alternatively, the fan blade may be loose. If so, you need to replace it.

Pump Small fruit pits, toothpicks, and fragments of glass sometimes get stuck in the pump. When this happens, open the pump and remove the debris. The pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher.

To get to the pump, you usually need to remove the lower rack, the spray arms, and the spray arm support from the inside of your dishwasher. A dishwasher pump isn't obvious. Look for an impeller--a round, plastic fan blade-type device that spins around and pushes the water toward the drain. When you can see the drain impeller, you should be able to see the clogging debris.
