If you get a mobile phone and select its camera, then look at the LED at the front of the remote thru the camera, press some keys on the remote unit and you should see the LED light up on the remote on the mobile phone camera screen (it picks up Infra Red which we can't see). this will let you know if the remote control is working. if it is, the receiver at the indoor unit is either covered with something, check thoroughly, or the receiver is faulted, replace via technician. SOURCE: Have a mistral air con, outside unit not working

there is no fuse on your condensing unit outside. pull the disconnect to kill the power to the unit and take off the removable panel above the 2 service valves. there will be an oval shaped capacitor that is marked herm and fan. there will be a rupture disc on the top that may have ruptured. also inspect the low voltage wiring(will still be hot unless you turn off the switch at your furnace). this low voltage wire operates a magnetic coil on the bottom of the contactor that closes a high voltage circuit to the fan and compressor.

I have a split-type aircon (brand: LG) with remote control. It has power and display when i put on batteries. but the aircon unit does not respond to the remote control. what do i do to fix this?...

Lift the front cover of the air con, on the right hand side there is a button or a hole which has a button inside which you can press which is for manual starting of the air con. If this works, then you will know the remote is faulty, if it still doesn't work, check that the isolator switch for the air con hasn't been turned off. There will be 9Or should be) a switch outside next to the air con outdoor unit to switch power on / off to the air con. If not, there should be switch inside the meter box at the front of the house. Make sure they are switched on.

Panasonic air con - when you turn the air con on it runs for about 3 mins and then the timer light flashes. Air con will not work.

• Once abnormality has occurred during operation, the unit
will stop its operation, and Timer LEDs blink.
• Although Timer LED goes off when power supply is turned
off, if the unit is operated under a breakdown condition, the
LED will light up again.
• In operation after breakdown repair, the Timer LED will no
more blink. The last error code (abnormality) will be stored in
IC memory.
• To make a diagnosis:
1. Timer LED start to blink and the unit automatically
stops the operation.
2. Press the CHECK button on the remote controller
continuously for 5 seconds.
3. "- -" will be displayed on the remote controller display.
Note: Display only for "- -". (No transmitting signal, no
receiving sound and no Power LED blinking.)
4. Press the "TIMER" or button on the remote
controller. The code "H00" (no abnormality) will be
displayed and signal will be transmitted to the main
unit.
5. Every press of the button (up or down) will increase
abnormality numbers and transmit abnormality code
signal to the main unit.
6. When the latest abnormality code on the main unit
and code transmitted from the remote controller are
matched, power LED will light up for 30 seconds and
a beep sound (continuously for 4 seconds) will be
heard. If no codes are matched, power LED will light
up for 0.5 seconds and no sound will be heard.
7. The breakdown diagnosis mode will be canceled by
pressing the CHECK button continuously for 5 sec-
onds or without any operation the remote control for
30 seconds.
8. The LED will be off if the unit is turned off or the
RESET button on the main unit is pressed.

When you have the error code, we can work out what to do next.

Intertherm Air Conditioner S3BA-042KA compressor and fan not working (has power)

It sounds like that unit is connected to a "power saving load controller" device from the power company. The power company can turn your unit on & off with a radio signal. If you manually activated contactor and unit ran. I would bet that the power company's device or the wiring connecting it is where the problem lies. Call the power company and have them check their device. If they tell you that the device has been tested remotely and is working fine. Explain to them that you can activate your unit manually and it works fine. They should not charge you to come out. Those "load controller devices" have a pretty good longevity record.

I have lost my service Manual for my NEC 6847 Air con unit & need to download one so that i can figure out how to get the heat to work

Make sure the remote control 'Mode' setting is on 'Heat', usually an icon that looks like a small sun. Then increase temperature setting until unit switches on. Can take 7 minutes or so to give any warm air flow, but if nothing after about 15 mins, then you have a problem. - Rick

We have a carriers air con that is about 4 yrs old it has a remote control and digital readings on the unit it is in the wall we can not get it to heat but it does cool we didnt put this in it was here...

Normally all air-cons carry an identifying label on the compressor unit. It has to by law state the gas used. On a split system this would normally be on the outside unit. Sometimes an additional label will be on one of the ends of the inside unit. Some units only do cooling - you need to check once you've found information. Check your remote control 'Mode' setting is correct - it should show a small 'sun' to indicate heating. A small 'icicle' looks similar, but means cooling. Then check temp setting is high enough to cause heating.

Some units having manual button in unit itself. But you can't change temp setting or mode setting by that. It's advisable to get new remote and operate this. Thanks.

Air con not working. Operation and timer lights flashing, then operation light flashes and then lights go off. Air con is blowing air but the outside unit is not blowing any air.

First check your timer on and off. If you want to reset, remove batteries from remote and power off to unit. Reset it. Now run the unit. Set temp mode once again in your remote and wait for 3 minutes. If still out door unit not working, check power line to out door unit.

Fujitsu air con unit. Remote wont work. has new batteries

Check the micro processor control whether it is in manual mode or not. If not check the sensor whether it is functioning or not. If everything is fine then remote control has to be changed.

Check the breaker in the panel and the fuses in the disconnect at the outside unit. If that doesn't do it. call a heating and air technician instead of an electrician.
