When the unit is turned

You can check the cause of that smell if you have the tools to open the unit. The first test is to place a piece of paper in front of the evaporator and start the fan. If the paper is **** or stays in front of the evaporator, you have a clean evaporator. If it is not ****, you need to open and clean the unit. The blower may be filled with dust and molds. It is best to find someone who knows how to work and clean your a/c unit

WE HAVE A CARRIER WALL

If you are in a high humid area, there will be a lot of water taken out of the air so you want to exhaust to the outside. If you are in a lower humidity area, then shut would be the better option, but it should work in either position, but if you get water dripping out then you might want to change the setting.
