Battery Problems My Batteries, (new and in good condition) go suddenly flat without any warning, showing fully charged one minute then no power at all the next. I have used the batteries in my other D60 without any problem. Oh, and the same thing happens if I use the AA magazine with AA cells.

This suggests a major short circuit. Check the the battery contacts in the chamber are clean and not obstructed. Then post this query to the Canon Technical Help team

Batteries shows fully charged. 24 volt shows 27 volts fully charged but shows RED light when install in mower.

it's never the motor, it's always the batteries.
you are most likely testing the batteries with just a meter and not under load
you will need a tool to put the battery under a load, it will end up costing more than two new batteries.
just replace the pair and you will be fine, i have done enough of these over the last few years.
good luck and you will have no problems with the new batteries.

New Laptop Battery Use Tips

Taking Care Of Your New Battery Pack

Normally, a new battery pack comes in a very low charge condition and must be fully charged before use. Refer to the user manual of your portable electronic equipment for charging instructions.

A new laptop battery pack needs to be fully charged and fully discharged or “cycled” as much as five times to condition them into performing at full capacity.

Your equipment may report a fully charge condition in as short as 10 to 15 minutes when the new battery pack is being charged for the first time. This is a normal phenomenon especially for Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cad) and Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) chemistries. When this happens, remove the Dell xps m1530 Battery pack and let it cool down for about fifteen minutes then repeat the charging procedure.

“Conditioning” (fully discharging and then fully charging) is necessary so as to maintain the optimum performance of a battery pack, and is recommended at least once a month particularly for Ni-Cad and Ni-MH batteries. Failure to do so could result in reduced charge capacity and can significantly shorten the battery pack’s useful life. Lithium Ion batteries do not require conditioning.

It is normal for a battery pack to get warm when charging and during use. However, if the dell Inspiron 2650 Battery pack gets excessive hot, there may be a problem with the portable electronic equipment’s charging circuit and should therefore be checked by a qualified technician.

Rechargeable batteries undergo self-discharging when left unused for long periods of time. This is normal particularly in the case of Ni-MH and Li-Ion chemistries. For best results, always store a battery pack fully charged. It should be removed from the equipment and kept in a cool, dry and clean place.

The amount of runtime a dell inspiron 8600 battery produces depends on the power requirements of components in your electronic equipment. This could be the hard drive setting, screen intensity and back-lighting on notebook computers, the liquid crystal display (LCD) screen and floodlight feature in a video camcorder, or the tri-mode communications network of a cellular phone. Always refer to your equipment’s user manual for power management settings.

How to charge your laptop battery properly? During the the process of notebook...

How to charge your laptop battery properly? solarroll-laptop-solar-charger.jpg During the the process of notebook using, we need no to deliberately charge the laptop battery to 100% state or fully discharged laptop battery to automatic shutdown protecting. The correct way is that charge the battery in 20% state and stop charging in 98% . If the machine has the power calibration procedure, when the battery standard-by time significantly reduced. Then calibrate the battery in time to active the protection circuit performance.
For early notebook batteries (Ni-MH Ni-MH or Ni-Cd Ni-Cd), really need to fully charge and discharge in order to maintain good battery capacity. But for the lithium battery is not necessary even it may damage the battery.
In fact the lithium batteries has a little memory effect. The lithium battery materials is very sensitive to the conditions as temperature, the use of frequency and so on. The battery will be aging after used for some period time (standby time reduced). The natural wear and tear is an important reason, and inadequate maintenance is another important reason.
A well-designed lithium batteries have a very good protection circuit to prevent excessive charge and discharge. As over-charging and discharging of the Sony VGP-BPS8 battery will be the rapid reduction activity. Under the protection of protection circuit, the user fully charge and discharge the battery several times, in fact, impossible to achieve had "full" level.
Sometimes WINDOWS show that battery capacity is 20% or more, you can use 30 minutes. But after used 10 minutes or less the machine suddenly automatically shut down. The reason is that the battery has been aging, the battery protection circuit can not monitors the battery real capacity. In the normal battery depletion, the protection circuit original parameters have been unable to properly reflect the actual situation of the battery
So power calibration procedure is to correct the benchmark protection circuit parameters to accurately reflect the actual capacity . This correction process will often take two or three complete charge and discharge. As previously mentioned, fully charge and discharge will reduce the battery activity. It is not frequently used, usually once a month.

This scooter has not been used for 18 months,it has 2 gel batteries and showed a full charge after o'night charge(greeen light) showing. How many kilometres should i get from it ?.it is a victory...

hi.

with good batteries, and under ideal conditions (flat smooth surface) this scooter should be good for up to 30 km.
this is highly dependant on the surface, slopes, rider weight, and battery condition, but with good batteries you should easily be able to do a round of golf.

the biggest problem you may have will be the batteries themselves.
after 18 months without use, the batteries may have suffered from a sulphur build up on the lead plates in the battery. this can mean that the batteries will show fully charged, but will not put out the full power. the best way to test this is to take the batteries down to your local car garage and ask them to do a "load test" sometimes called a "drop test" on the batteries. they will usually do this free of charge and it only takes a few minutes. a 100amp load test for 8 seconds should tell you the condition of the batteries.
if the batteries test ok, then you should not have any problems using the scooter for a round of golf.

hope this helps

The initial battery of my Acer Travelmate 2480 packed up and I ordered and installed a new one. However, the laptop remains on "AC Only" power and the battery is not charged, giving a...

RTFM You can download the manual by googling "acer travelmate 2480 manual" (without the quotes). Or just click here

According to the Acer manual:

"Conditioning a new battery pack
Before you use a battery pack for the first time, there is a
"conditioning" process that you should follow:
1 Insert the new battery without turning the computer on.
2 Connect the AC adapter and fully charge the battery.
3 Disconnect the AC adapter.
4 Turn on the computer and operate using battery power.
5 Fully deplete the battery until the battery-low warning appears.
6 Reconnect the AC adapter and fully charge the battery again.

Follow these steps again until the battery has been charged and
discharged three times.
Use this conditioning process for all new batteries, or if a battery hasn't
been used for a long time. If the computer is to be stored for more
than two weeks, you are advised to remove the battery pack from the
unit.

Warning: Do not expose battery packs to temperatures below 0°C
(32°F) or above 60°C (140°F). Extreme temperatures may adversely
affect the battery pack.

By following the battery conditioning process you condition your
battery to accept the maximum possible charge. Failure to follow this
procedure will prevent you from obtaining the maximum battery
charge, and will also shorten the effective lifespan of the battery.
In addition, the useful lifespan of the battery is adversely affected by
the following usage patterns:
• Using the computer on constant AC power with the battery
inserted. If you want to use constant AC power, you are advised to
remove the battery pack after it is fully charged.
• Not discharging and recharging the battery to its extremes, as
described above.
• Frequent use; the more you use the battery, the faster it will reach
the end of its effective life. A standard computer battery has a life
span of about 500 charges."

My battery is fully charged but when i turn the camera on it shuts right back off

SOunds like your battery is bad. try discharing it :
  1. Place the battery in your camera until it itself turns off. In this situation, the battery is fully discharged.
  2. Take out your battery and slide it into your battery charger.
  3. Connect your charger with power to fully charge the battery. It is normal for a new battery that battery indicator shows 100% capacity in 10 to 15 minutes. Please keep charging until there is no time left for charging.
  4. Fully charged and fully discharged or "cycled" as much as five times to condition them into performing at full capacity.
Try it and see if it works? If the batteries are not rechargeable then the problem is in the cameras power supply and you need to take it in or replace it.

False low battery warning

Same thing happened to me when I used alkaline batteries. Have you tried fully charged NiMH? If not you may have a "leak". Your next option is the service center.

Acer Travelmate 270 - battery problem?

IT sounds like your laptop or powersupply/charger is at fault. Try to use a different charger, and if possible use your battery in a different computer. That way you can narrow down where the problem is. It might ba a faulty connection where the charger is connected to your computer. To check this out, try running the computer on AC without the battery installed. If it suddenly shuts off it's a problem with your powersupply or possibly the connection plug in the cimputer.
