Needle alignment When the stitch is set to just the regular straight stitch, the needle no longer lines up with the center of the foot, instead it sits the the left. When i change the stitch dial to different stitches it looks like the needle is moving appropriately, just not on the straight stitch. Is there an easy way i can fix this myself, or do i need to get it looked at professionally?

Hey. It's full out possible that you have it on the right setting...but concider this - the switcher inside the sewing machine could be broken (ie. It's moving to different stitches - but not the one you have the outside set for)

You can do all of these stitches by using different combinations of your stitch selector, stitch width and stitch feed knobs, for instance, on the panel I can see on your machine:

Stitches 1, 2 & 3 are straight stitches, centered, left and right. Really basic stuff, not different stitches at all. 4,5,6,7 & 8 are zig-zag stitches of different widths. 9 is the widest zig-zag (no. 8) on a finer stitch length, etc...

I think you should try and get an instruction manual for your machine. After a lengthy search of my usual manual sources, I've determined that that this may not be so easy. I think you should contact White on their 800 number and let them try and help you... 1-800-331-3164.

THis problem occurred as I was sewing on Neoprene. I was using Gutterman all-purpose thread and a size 80 needle. Tried switching to a size 70, then to size 90. Still unable to zig zag. After inserting a test sample of cotton, the zig zag worked perfectly, so I knew it was not a mecahnical problem. I switched needles again. This time to size 90 for stretch fabric. Voila! Problem solved.

I make flannel square quilts for babies, it is a nightmare itself. It makes a lot of lint in the bobbin case and under the face plate, try prewashing the fabric before using it and clean out the bobbin case frequently while sewing. When i dont prewash it, i just open the bobbin area and blow the cotton dust out with my breath or i use the small brush to clean it out
