Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Replace ink cartridges

1 - Open the top lid 2 - Open the ink cartridge carrier 3 - Shake the ink cartridges 4 - Unpack the ink cartridges 5 - Remove the yellow tape from each cartridge as you get ready to install it, but not before 6 - Install each color cartridge into its corresponding color slot pressing down all the way until it "clicks" 7 - Close the ink cartridge carrier 8 - Close the top lid
At this point the printer should charge its ink cartridges. Let this finish before using your printer.
Hope this helps!

How do I know WHICH of the ink cartridges is out?

I found this on the Epson Web Site. If you find this information helpful, pls rate me.
You can download the Reference Guide with pictures and all.

http://files.support.epson.com/htmldocs/r220__/r220__rf/index.htm

Windows
You can check the amount of ink remaining in the ink cartridges using EPSON Status Monitor 3 or the progress meter. Refer to the sections below for details.
EPSON Status Monitor 3 Access EPSON Status Monitor 3 in one of the following ways.
  • Double-click the printer-shaped shortcut icon on your Windows taskbar. To add a shortcut icon to the taskbar, see the section below.
    font26.gif See Monitoring Preferences
  • Open the printer software, click the Maintenance tab, then click the EPSON Status Monitor 3 button.
A graphic displays the remaining amount of ink.

If any of the ink cartridges installed in the printer is broken, incompatible with the printer model, or improperly installed, EPSON Status Monitor 3 will not display an accurate calculation for the amount of ink remaining in any of the ink cartridges. Be sure to replace or reinstall any ink cartridge indicated by EPSON Status Monitor 3.

Pls rate me. Thanks and Good Luck.....

Epson CX3900 says all cartridges empty but not true

Did you use Epson Genuine Cartridges?

ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!!

Also go thru the utility to change cartridges. This will make the chip know that you have all new cartridges and will move the ink station in place.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Red light on steady

If the ink light is on steady red, that means the black or color ink cartridge is nearly empty. Obtain a replacement black or color ink cartridge. To know which cartridge is out of ink, check the ink levels using EPSON Status Monitor 3 (Windows) or EPSON Status Monitor (Macintosh). If you just replaced the cartridges before you got the error light, that means that the replacement cartridge is not recognized by your printer. Please reseat cartridges. Then turn the printer on and off. The cartridges maybe bad also.
If the paper light is on steady red, try to reload 10-20 sheets of regular paper into your printer. When printing on CD/DVD, CD/DVD tray is not inserted in the printer. Insert the CD/DVD tray in the printer and press the paper button.Could also be that the printer has loaded more than one sheet of paper at a time. Load paper in the sheet feeder, and then press the paper button to resume printing. If the CD/DVD guide is open, close the CD/DVD guide, load paper and then press the paper button.

Printing problem

The printer determines the amount of ink left in the cartridge by counting the number of ink "shots" when printing, head cleaning etc. This information is stored in the "chip" on the cartridge. Thus, it is not an actual measurement of the ink left, but an estimate calculated by subtracting the total shots from the original full ink quantity. This estimate can sometimes be grossly in error, usually due to a cartridge replacement not being carried out correctly, or a cartridge that wasn't, in fact, properly filled. In other words, your cartridge (or cartridges) may actually be empty, even though the Status Monitor says there is ink in it/them.

You do not say if this problem is one cartridge, or all four. If it is the latter, then something is clearly amiss, since it is unlikely all four would be erroneously reported as containing ink when actually empty.

However, the first step is to buy a new set of cartridges - you can get a set of compatible cartridges from E-Bay very cheaply. You can save the old ones - tape up the nozzles to keep them from drying out - you may be able to use them again when you know what is going on.

Make sure you go through a proper cartridge replacement process so that an ink charging cycle is carried out.

If the new cartridges produce no printing, try a couple of head cleans and nozzle checks. If this still produces no print, report back with a new comment on what you have done so far.

I have just replaced the ink in my epson sx200 but the ink light is still flashing and it won't print - any ideas. Thanks

Try opening the printer properties then selecting Printing Preferences -> Maintenance -> Epson Status Monitor.
This will give you an indication of whether the cartridges have been recognised.
Some of the older T071x cartridges are not compatible - you must get ones specific to to SX200.

No B/W print while black cartridge is full.

Your printer and its software will let you know when an ink cartridge is low or expended.

If an ink cartridge is low or expended, you see a message on the Epson Stylus CX8400 LCD display screen. If a cartridge is expended, you must replace it to be able to print. If a cartridge is low, you can continue printing until a cartridge needs replacement.

NOTE:
You cannot print or copy when an ink cartridge is expended even if the other cartridges are not expended. Replace any expended cartridges before printing or copying.

When an installed ink cartridge is more than six months old, you may need to replace it if your printouts do not look their best, even after cleaning and aligning the print head.

Follow the steps below to replace one or more ink cartridges that are low on ink, expended, or too old:

1. Turn on the printer.

If you're replacing a cartridge before you see a message on the LCD display screen, press Setup, select Maintenance, and press OK. Then select Change Ink Cartridge and press OK.

2. Open the scanner.

3. Open the cartridge cover.

4. Squeeze the tab on the cartridge and lift the cartridge straight up to remove it. Dispose of it carefully. Do not take the used cartridge apart or try to refill it.

5. Before opening the new cartridge package, shake it four or five times. (Do not shake a cartridge after opening the package; ink may leak.)

6. Remove the cartridge from the package, but be careful not to touch the green chip on the cartridge.

7. Remove the yellow tape from the bottom of the cartridge.

CAUTION:
Do not remove any other labels or seals, or ink will leak.

8. Insert the new cartridge into the holder and push it down until it clicks into place.

9. Once you replace all the necessary cartridges, close the cartridge cover and push it down until it clicks into place.

10. Close the scanner.

11. Press OK to begin charging the ink. This takes about 2 minutes.

When you see a completion message on the LCD display screen, ink charging is finished.

CAUTION:
Never turn off the printer while ink is charging or you'll waste ink. If you see an ink replacement message on the LCD display screen, press OK and press down all the cartridges securely.

I dont know how...

Unraqr the c90.rar file and copy the extraction to any folder on your hard disk (for future frequent use).

The following only works after refilling the cartridges or using a continuous ink system.

Note: This is for the Epson C90; there are a lot more printer specific resetters. Mine is Indonesian.

Note: This does NOT work if the system date is NOT set at July 15, 2007 !!

1. Set the system date to July 15, 2007.
2. Go to MY COMPUTER, open local disk C: then delete the ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM FOLDER (if present)
3. Close local disk
4. Click START, RUN, type REGEDIT
4. Open HKEY LOCAL MACHINE
5. Open Software folder
6. Open Epson folder
7. Delete PTSG folder (right click, remove=yes)
8. Open Epson C90 Resetter folder and start adjprog
9. Click ACCEPT button
10. Click SELECT button to go to port menu. Selected designated port number (USB ...)
11. Click the "Particular Adjustment Mode" button
12. Double click the "Waste Ink pad Counter"
13. Click the "Check" button
14. Click the "Initialization" button.
15. Turn of the printer and press "OK"
16. Turn on the printer and wait until the maintenance procedure has finished
17. Close the panels of the Adjustment program
18. Reset the date to the current date.

Note: Print these steps for future use.
Note: With a continuous ink system, make sure that the ink filling cable is not to tight; the print head with the attached ink
cabling must be able to freely move all the way to the left inside the printer. Also make sure that none of the ink tubes is squeezed tight by the black plastic clamps that are used to attach the system to the outside (front) of your C90. Place them so that the transparent cover stays slightly open.

Note: With a continuous ink system, be sure to use the "lock roller" on the ink system to close the ink supply when the printer is not in use; otherwise your ink evaporates.
Note: The continuous ink system is quite erratic in its signalling: when one of the colors is about 1/3 full on the Epson monitor, the printer might stop suddenly and display the cartridge X signal. Sometimes, with 2 colors X-ed, you have to do the procedure twice!

I don't know where you got the C90.rar download. You must have the following files:
AdjProg.exe
Apdadrv.dll
Caution.bmp
EditText.dat
Headid.bmp
Prnerror.bmp
Prnidle.bmp
StrGene.dll

If you don't have them all or miss some, pls e-mail me ([email protected]) and I'll sent them to you (attachment is about 2 MB)

Last: The C90 is a **** printer. After 4 months of use the paper adjustment goes to hell, so with printing you never know if printing will start before the paper is properly loaded. Might as well buy a new printer (NOT Epson!).

Good luck!
