I got an "error" notation on the screen. Since then, I cannot even access the CD changer. It is an AM/FM/CD/XM unit. Have had no problems till now - dealer just wants to pull it out and sell me another one. It is out of warranty.
Any thoughts here?
I don't have a solution, but the same thing happened to my car. I have a 2007 Honda Accord with a 6 disc cd player and it is reading "Mechanical Error" and it won't work and all my cds are stuck in there.
Worked like a CHAMP, THANKS! CD player working normally handling all CD's. Save me hundreds of dollars.
Can't say it's a fix, but a temporary solution I found allowed me to at least play the cd's that are stuck in mine.
I found that if I get something thin enough to stick in the cd loading slot (I used a thick key card but seems like another cd could work too) I was able to push the cd that it was trying to eject back into the player. Once the cd is settled back in it's normal position, it will play and cycle through cd's normally. It now functions normally unless I try to eject or load cd's. Hope this helps.

I have a 2007 Honda Accord and the radio works fine but the 6 disc cd player says mechanical error. When I turn the car on the display screen says load, but I can't put in a cd or eject one out. Then after 15 seconds the load message turns to mechanical error. Is there anything I can do to fix the problem myself?
