Question about Nissan Altima

1 Answer

2008 Altima with factory nav/cd changer. 2 CDs were stuck in the changer, which I was able to remove. However, the disc indicator lights remain Green for discs 1 and 2 even though there are no discs in the changer. the unit will also not accept any new discs to be loaded. Any thoughts?

Unless you can repair the cd unit its gonna be a replacement.
or you could transfer all your cds to mp3 and play them through your fm radio........until you sell the car

We can't get the factory 6 disc cd player to load more than 1 disc. What is the sequence for loading additional discs?

The following is the owner's manual for your 2004 Dodge Neon:

http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/manuals/index.html?year=2004&nameplate=Neon

P.99 describes how to load discs:

1. Select and press any numbered button without an illuminated light above it.
2. Insert the CD while the light above the chosen button is flashing and the two lights on either side of the slot are illuminated.
3. Upon insertion, the CD will begin to play, and both the button light and the lights in the corner of the loading slot will illuminate.
4. Repeat the process for loading any additional CDs. The CD playe rwill stop while additional CDs are loaded.

Playing Discs
The radio will show the CD number, the CD track number, and the Track Time Elapsed while the radio is in the CD mode. IF more than one CD is loaded in the changer, the changer will automatically play the next disc after playing the last track of the current disc.

Wow, that's a lot of typing.
I didn't know the 2004 Dodge Neon had such a nice changer.
Good luck.

CDs are stuck and CD player will not work. Factory six-disc radio. New CDs.Third new factory radio with same problem. Any ideas on getting the CDs out?

From everything I've heard, this is a very common problem and can be costly to have repaired. One forum I found had this posting...maybe it will work for you.

"This is what I did to my In-Dash 6 disc CD Player.

Rather that toss the radio like most are saying to do you can try this first.

Pull the radio out and remove the screw on each side and the 2 on the back. Pop off the cover and you can see the CD's. The part of the CD changer may have not fully engaged the CD it wanted to play and it is stuck not knowing what to do. Press on the CD that so that the part that spins the CD is locked into the center of the CD. Leave the top open and plug in the CD player. It should start going through all of the cd's then if the CD error is gone it will play again."

CD Changer not reading CDs

2000 bmw 528i,my cd changer also reads no cds, this seem to be a common problem with all bmw cd changer.Anyway i removed the cd changer from my car, took the outside black cover apart only to see that a white big wheel came of its place,(its the wheel that holds the cd in place from the top (bottom wheel is black attached directly to the motor,as the cd is sandwitched between the black, and white wheels) .if that wheel is out of place the cd will not turn inside the changer for the eye to read it,so your radio screen will read NO CD OR NO DISC.Very easy fix, just place the wheel in its place, and everything worked fine,it took me 20 minutes to fix.
p.s :
1- you do need to make sure you have an original cd in for testing it.
2- you do not need to recode your cd changer at the dealer if you have an old bmw, dealer will need to recode cd changers for 2006 and up.
Good luck.

yes... remove the radio from the dash... remove the screws that hold on the top panel on... then you remove said panel... and then you get them out by pressing the eject button and pishing them out with your fingers!!!! you can also try pulling them out with tweezers... or you can take it to an audio repair place... your choice
