I bought a new kitchen sink and pipes with a garbage disposal. Over night the smell in the garbage disposal is like rotten eggs! How can I make it smell good?
None, it just smells like the water isn't pushing past the U pipe.

There can be several reasons behind stinking of the Kitchen Sinks. Here is the list of them and the tips to resolve them:
A rotting food smell from junk stuck in the garbage disposal or drain: Use vinegar and baking soda, run ice cubes through the disposal, put lemon or orange slices in the disposal.
Sewer smell from gas leaking in through the drain trap :High pressure can force its way through the water in the trap and low pressure can siphon out the water from the trap.
Bacteria: One reason for a smelly kitchen sink can be the presence of bacteria in the drain pipe. To get rid of the bacteria you can either use baking soda, vinegar, or a commercial drain cleaner or bleach.
Even if you do not get rid of stinky smell then you can contact any professional plumber online for help.
Most probably it is because the ventilation pipe on the sink is not exhausting the methane gas properly, so the methane/rotten egg smell is coming out of the drain. Sometimes if vent pipes are not angled properly, the gas/smell will not rise properly. If there is no ventilation pipe hooked up to the sink, you will most probably smell it. Good luck.
Yes. I am familiar with these.
You or someone will be needing to take a large bucket or some pans and put them under the sink and undo all the pipes and the drains and the garbage disposal.
You will find a plugged up pipe.
I have already unplugged my daughter's about 10 times in the last 10 years.
Usually, the problem is she has put something down the sink she shouldn't have.
Example: Egg shells. Will not wash down. Rough silage: Clogs pipes.
When you get it apart, you will likely identify the product causing the problem.
God bless your efforts.
First off, you need a hot water feed line for your dishwasher, not cold water
Secondly, if you have a garbage disposal installed on your sink you canconnect the dishwasher drain hose to the side port on the garbage disposal. That's what that little port is for anyway. If you do have a garbage disposal and hook the dishwasher hose to it then make sure you take a hammer and screw driver and knock out the little plastic plug that's inside the garbage disposal port before hooking up the hose to it, if you don't you'll flood your kitchen.
If you don't have a garbage disposal on your sink, then you're going to have to replace a piece of your sink's drain piping with a wye (Y) tailpiece. The tailpiece has a small branch that comes off it to where you canconnect the dishwasher drain hose.
Regardless of which way you hook up the drainage and water lines, make sure you test out the work you did by running the dishwasher and keeping an eye on it. I can't tell you the number of times i've seen people hook up stuff like this and not test it and then when they go to use the dishwasher it floods the kitchen..... usually when people are sleeping at night. Test your work.
Hi Jenny - I had a terrible smell coming from under my sink, and I too thought it was a dishwasher/garbage disposal drainage issue. I used vinegar, baking soda, bleach and hot water on a daily basis. When I cut out the wallboard from under the sink and the smell got even worse, however, there was no sign of any water leaks or evidence of a dead animals. Come to find out, when I had a "friend" cut out a pass through from my kitchen (above the sink) into the den, he cut the pvc exhaust pipe and didn't re-route it nor cap allowing the fumes to escape outside via the attic. Thus, the fumes had no place to go other than down. The smell confused me because I thought it was rotten food or most likely a dead mouse trapped between the wall. The smell was actually causing me to get headaches. It's been almost 24 hours that this was repaired and I already can "smell" the difference. I hope this helps! Good luck.
I'm going to try Baking soda, bleach
