Want to know if i can use as monitor

I have a viewsonic ve500 and would like to hook my security cameras to it. Can i use it as a monitor for my security camera? if so how?

    VGA? I am trying to set up my new Nortech wireless security system.the reciever came with a cord that has a audio and video plug in. The only output connection on the viewsonic is power, and a computer connector. is there anyway to get the cameras to work on the monitor with out using a pc?

Depending on the Security System, it may have a VGA out. If so, your set. If not, you will either need a converter to change the output of your security cameras (probably RCA's) to VGA., or you can route it through a PC if you have a capture card.

    OK your Security System's Video out is an RCA Cable. The Monitors Input is VGA. You can use an RCA to VGA adapter to connect the Monitor to the Security System. Something Like This Should work.

Check your computer to make sure it is actually sending out a signal. You can do this by hooking up another working monitor. If the other monitor works, there maybe a problem with the original monitor and it may need to be sent for service repair.

Try a different monitor on your computer. If it still gets no signal, then it is possible your video card has failed.

The problem is most likely the monitor itself. Hook up an old monitor (usually someone has an old monitor laying around) if the computer works with another monitor you'll know for sure.
Look at your monitor using a flash light at an angle, if you can see a picture in the background you have a bad inverter.
