It is difficult to determine how much to repair because the computer needs a detailed check/test. Your computer repair shop can give you a quote.

SOURCE: aCER HARD DRIVE CRASH

you can easily buy a new HDD at buy.com or newegg.com but checking the old one and installing the new one are a little harder. The drive is simply a small SATA drive and can be plugged into any newer PC. Techs use a USB adapter, but if you know something about it, installing a drive isn't that hard. You may need to enable in in BIOS though.

Installing a new one is a simple matter, but then you have to install windows, which means you'll have to boot from the CD [and HAVE a windows install CD].

Good luck either way.

SOURCE: Philips SCB5265 DVD/CDRW drive only reads CDs but not DVDs

Take a can of air and blow it on the laser then try to see if it will read both cd's and dvd's. If it doesn't read one or the other then the dvd-rw would need to be replaced.

SOURCE: PHILIPS CDRW/DVD SCB5265 ATA Device cannot play most DVDs

I'm guessing you may have locked the DVD region. If you right-click on the device in Device Manager and click the Region tab, does it say 0 changes available? Acer won't fix this, and claim you have to replace the drive. Can't find a firmware flash for this drive online, will post back here if successful!

SOURCE: Philips External hard drive not connecting

Try connecting it to a different usb port. plugging out without first stopping the usb device must have the device settings on that port.

My WACS 57 Center will not ever boot. It just always says booting up. What can I do?

contact the manufacturer through the suppoet facility on their website, they are the best people to help you in this matter and may ask you to return the item dor inspection/repair/replacement. This is not the forum for your particular problem I think.

CD stuck in out Philips Streamium WAC 7000. Cannot get the CD to play and Unit is not recognising that there is a CD in it. Will not eject

You should be able to take the top off. Look on the sides. There should be a bunch of small screws. Unscrew them and lift the top off. You should be able to access the DVD once the top is off. Then just put the top back on and screws the screws back in.

Wacs7500 streamium cannot read discs, just says 'no disc' or cannot read disc. have tried a cd lens cleaner with no success

remove the cover and gently clean the lens with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol, then blow the lens dry. if all else fails, replace the optical pickup assembly (lens and spindle motor) or the whole player.
