Remove the cover and gently clean the lens with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol, then blow the lens dry. if all else fails, replace the optical pickup assembly (lens and spindle motor) or the whole player.

My BOSESound Wave reads my CD's but then says they are unplayable. How to fix?

The CD unit has two optics, a tracking laser and a reading laser. It sounds like tracking it working, but reading isn't. Try an optics cleaning disc. It has gentle brushes to clean the dust off. You can also get them at Walmart.

I have onkyo disc changer that reads no disc..there are disc in it and correctly installed..move them around but it still reads no disc..how to fix?? ed smith

Go to Walmart and get a CD Optics Cleaner Disc. Little brushes clean the tracking and read optics. The error is normally because the tracking optic can't read a disc, so it says there isn't one!

Put cd in, says it’s reading disc, after10 seconds it says Not Playable, then ejects disc

hi Nancy.
this could be dust on the lens that reads the disc.
Use a disk-based lens cleaner to remove ground in dust or dirt from the CD player's lens. These lens cleaners look like a regular CDs, but have specially-made bushes on the reverse side that gently remove excess dirt from the CD-reading lens. Simply put the CD in your player, and press the "Play" button to clean the lens. Do not run the cleaner more than once, as excess brushing can cause scratches on the lens.
Polish the lens. Use a glass or eyeglass cleaning solution and a lint-free cloth to gently polish the reading lens. Clean it by using a low amount of pressure and softly polishing the lens and its surrounding area using soft, circular motions. Do this for about a minute or two and then allow the player to sit for a few minutes before trying to play a CD.

CD PLAYER LENS NOT READING

Dust on lens. I've fixed all my DVDs like this (apart from a couple that were truly broke). You need a little confidence for this, it involves getting into machine to get to lens. With the lid off, you need to switch machine on to get tray out, then unplug to prevent shock. With a cotton bud Q tips I think they're called, gently place cotton end onto lens rolling it couple of times. Gently !!!
Reassemble machine and plug back in. Try a disc, making sure the disc isn't a corrupted rewrite or a scratched disc or a greasy dirty disc or even a diffent region disc.

Player shows '' No Disc'' even when inserted with a disk

When player says no disk, even if the disk inside, and you hear a whirring and clicking noise when you insert a disk, that means that the CD lens is dirty or defective, and the CD drive cannot read the initial CD track, and returns no disk.

Try first using a CD cleaner disk, if that does not work, then you will need to take the apart the unit to clean lens with isopropyil alcohol and cotton sticks.

See also the following websites on how to clean the lens, use a cleaner disk first:

Disc not being read - reading reading reading

That looks like a lens problem, when there is a fault of different kind you usually get an error message.

If you use a CD cleaner , use a good one , the $2 CD cleaners do not work, you need a kit with cleaning solution. Check here.

Run the CD cleaner a couple of times more , and see if this work.

If it does not work , the unit must be taken apart, and the lens cleaned directly with a cotton stub and cleaning solution, or isopropyl alcohol.

If the lens is defective, then the lens pick up should be replaced.
