Blank screen I have a JVC pd-42v485 42" Plasma Screen, the screen will not come on. The sound comes on but no picture. I also can't get it to go to cable or antenna, so no sound other than static. I have no idea! Any suggestions? Thanks, - E

Usually a few electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board are swollen or burst.

There are many reasons for this fault, that occurs with a plasma display. Without seeing its present screen, nothing can be adviced. It has screen shots to many faults that can occur to a plasma display, and measures to taken to rectify it. Pull up older posts there, either by its left side bar, or see it in Timslide option.

That's because your aspect ratio is 4:3. To get the picture to fill the whole screen change the aspect ratio to 16:9. You can do this by pressing the aspect button on the remote (right above the channel + button) and changing it to different sizes such as cinema, panorama, and full. Try all the options and see which one like best.

the problem sounds as if it is the buffer panels in the tv

The Drive PWB for the Plasma Panel just fried. You can probably remove the back cover and easily identify the bad components

Based on the symptoms: It is possible that the Y-buffers are faulty, which may require the replacement of the Y-sus board as well. You may want to get a local technician to diagnose the unit and provide a second opinion.

I believe that this monitor will not work unless you have the cable from the media center to the monitor hooked up, I have all the parts from one of these due to the screen being defective on one of my customer's TV like yours. I have the connection cable that I could sell for $ 20. + Priority shipping of $5.65

The problem was not a cable connection. A chip needed to be replaced at the tune of over $600j (includes $200 for the repairmen coming to my home to dismantle and take to the shop and return it).
