Blank screen I have a JVC pd-42v485 42" Plasma Screen, the screen will not come on. The sound comes on but no picture. I also can't get it to go to cable or antenna, so no sound other than static. I have no idea! Any suggestions? Thanks, - E

The X or Y drive boards are bad, the substain voltage is missing, or there is a problem in the power supply. Sorry, no quick fix here. Please call in a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck

There are many reasons for this fault, that occurs with a plasma display. Without seeing its present screen, nothing can be adviced. If you wish to get more details about these faults to Plasma Displays, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . It has screen shots to many faults that can occur to a plasma display, and measures to taken to rectify it. Pull up older posts there, either by its left side bar, or see it in Timslide option.

2 vertical bars on the right side of screen, thay are black, has picture and sound but no thing in the bars

That's because your aspect ratio is 4:3. To get the picture to fill the whole screen change the aspect ratio to 16:9. You can do this by pressing the aspect button on the remote (right above the channel + button) and changing it to different sizes such as cinema, panorama, and full. Try all the options and see which one like best.

JVC PD-42DX6BJ plasma 42 inch black horizontal lines over the pic

Here's a link to order the original the JVC upper Y-buffer board and lower Y-buffer board for this model from a major parts distributor if needed:

JVC "PD-42DX6" Replacement Part Upper Y - Buffer Board (LJ41-02760A)

JVC "PD-42DX6" Replacement Part Lower Y - Buffer Board (LJ41-02761A)

Based on the symptoms: It is possible that the Y-buffers are faulty, which may require the replacement of the Y-sus board as well. You may want to get a local technician to diagnose the unit and provide a second opinion.

JVC PD-42WV74 Plasma will not power on ?

I believe that this monitor will not work unless you have the cable from the media center to the monitor hooked up, I have all the parts from one of these due to the screen being defective on one of my customer's TV like yours. I have the connection cable that I could sell for $ 20. + Priority shipping of $5.65

42" Plasma Displays only Green Screen

dds426's reply:

The problem was not a cable connection. A chip needed to be replaced at the tune of over $600j (includes $200 for the repairmen coming to my home to dismantle and take to the shop and return it).
