My Proscan 32LB30Q LCD HDTV is less than a month old and about two days after I hooked it up it started buzzing. There is nothing connected to it like a game console, dvd player, etc. I have tried to switch the stereo to mono but nothing seems to be helping. If anybody has any idea what may be wrong with it or even an idea I would greatly appreciate it!!!!! Thanks!!!
This made my humming sound go away completely;
From JD at oncorpus.com [manufacturer of the 32LB30Q]

Call 1-888-977-6722. this is the proscan number. they called me and told me how to fix the humming.
turn tv on
turn volume to 0
key in code 9876 real fast
scroll down to backlight when the menu appears
use right arrow button to change backlight to 83
after that press the menu button 2 times.
if this doesnt work call the number listed above. if no answer leave a message. they will call you back.
This [9876 then backlight adjust to 83] does work, but in addition to punching in the number really fast, I had to stand right in front of the TV because otherwise it would go to channel 98...
Ok here , we go talked to a tech today. here is what was said turn tv on lower volume to 0, then enter 9876 , arrow down to backlight, right arrow to bring backlight up then increase to 83, hit enter 3x should be all set
Thank you, this works. But you may have to autoprogram again when you are finished.
I just tried the crazy instructions about turning down the volume, pressing 9-8-7-6 then adjusting the backlight setting. IT TOTALLY WORKED! Thank you guys, I almost flipped out bc I bought it at Circuit City too (no returns)!
I can't get the tv to accept the channel 9876, it only takes 987. Any suggestions?
Set your tv to the regular channel (ex ch-3)
then point your remote at the tv and press numbers 9876
then a service menu should pop up
when it does find the setting for "backlight"
and set it to 83 thats what the guy from their technical support told me
to do and it fixed mine
Change the settings from surround sound to mono - it eliminates the humming.
Go on the manual.

Usually answered in minutes!
I just got a proscan and the minute I turned it on I heard the hum. It is very aggravating.
Same problem here. It drives me crazy!
buzzing sound
I have the same problem, but it goes away when muted. Nice to look at but not watch?
Same problem here.
We just bought this tv a few hours ago and the only way to get rid of the buzzing is to mute it, just like someone else said. If we can't get rid of it there is no sense in keeping the tv. Great price but still want something that works for $400.00
same thing is driving me crazy
We have same problem. TV starts humming after 5 minutes. Not worth it
literally just bought it. Any input with a signal has the hum. Hum goes away if the tv is muted or if the input signal is removed.
We just bought this TV and are having the same problem. The only way to get rid of the humming is to mute the TV or turn it off. I have tried calling the warranty number but it goes to a voice mail where you can leave a message.
same problem on second tv. back to store
I also have the same problem. It makes a humming sound about 5 minutes after turning on. I have contacted the warranty dept. but just get a recording. I have left messages and no response.
i bough the exact same tv and just as i turn it on humming sound goes on and turns off as i put the volume on 0 or mute.
Very same problem. Bought th TV yesterday at Circuit City. Starts humming aftetr about 10 minutes.
Same Problem. TV began humming the moment we turned it on.
Same problem after 4 min. humming starts.
Same problem, soon to be Ex-wife bought one at circuit city, probably no chance to return it. I didn't notice that setting 'surround' to 'mono' fixed it, not sure I tried that option and I thought I tried everything.
Thought it was a great deal, bought it, set it up and as soon as I turned it on, BUZZZZZ. There is no solution or quick fix to this problem and the manual is of no help either. Your best bet is to try to contact Proscan for an authorized fix at a local repair center but from what I've experienced and seen on several forums is that Proscan has become overwhelmed with complaints about this and have any calls about this matter go straight to their voicemail and ultimately ignoring their customers. Can anybody say class action lawsuit?
Same problem - humming after about 4 or 5 minutes - I have an electronics background and I know they probably got a bad batch of audio ICs (audio chip). In a test environment - the humming starts after a certain temperature is reached by the component - if you spray canned freeze on it - it immediately stops. no way anyone's getting it fixed right away if they can't even answer their phones. That means they know they have who knows how many thousands of units out there that are all bad - and no way they are gonna cop to that on their own.
i just bought one last nigh as soon as i hooked it up hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm and it dosnt stop other than that its great but the noise sure is annoying
We have the same problem. Just bought it at Circuit City. Maybe we just got "taken" since there is no way to return it now. I thought RCA was reliable. Any ideas??
What do you do about the hum?
I have the same problem
I have the same problem. TV Cable Guy said hook the piece of Peroscan junk up to a surround sound system and bypass the sound card in the tv altogether. A good cheap one is $150 at Walmart
How do you change from surround sound to mono?
my proscan does the same thing. it is a constant humm, but doesn't go up when the volume goes up.
damn thing just hums and hums
is the humming from the speakers or the tv itself
