Sounds like a blown fuse or wiring problem.
A mechanic would check to see if the starter will crank with power direct from the battery, then look for power to the starter from the key switch.

You may need to order a key remote from the manufacturer.

SOURCE: 1999 Pontiac Sunfire wont turn over

ok i had kinda the same problem. if your father or bf is decent with mechanics ask him to check any see if there is any spark if not tell him to check the cranksensor to c if there is an current going to it, also when u go to start the car is there a (theft system light that comes on in the dash and flashes if so, turn the key fully as if you were going to start the car but dont crank it and leave it be for about 15-20mins or until the light stops flashing. then turn the key off and try start again. the thing is that when u install a stereo into one of these cars theres a anti theft system that stops fuel from going to the injectors. thats why when u install a aftermarket stereo u are supose to get eh harness so that it doesnt engage the ats(anti theft system). and if there is no current going to the crank sensor cut the wire long enough to hood an extra wire to it and then hook it up to ignition fuse in the fuse box(inside the car) this will send a a current to the crank sensor so when u turn the key on it will start. this is only a temperary fix. just gives u enough time to pick up the money to bring the car to the garage and get it checked correctly. anything else just ask. SOURCE: 2003 Volkswagon Passat. The epc light comes on

EPC refers to the drive by wire system. This system, generally speaking, encompasses the throttle pedal and its position sensors (it needs to know where your gassin' foot is) and the throttle body.

Most likely, the EPC light and its associated faults for this scenario are a symptom, not the problem. Meaning the actual root cause is causing the no-start/no crank issue AND fault codes related to the EPC system.

And the most likely root cause is an ignition switch, NOT the engine speed sensor.

With a bad engine speed sensor, the car will still crank all damn day (or until the battery dies) but the car won't start.

If you get a no-crank issue, and then it eventually starts either with or without an EPC light, again, the most likely problem is the ignition switch. Not the starter, not the battery (though the battery proper and the cable connections must be perfection itself to rule them out.) You can get these issues with a visually perfect but still faulty battery connection.

Have a 97 VW Passat VR6, it died one day as the check engine light came on, it would run for a few minutes and then die, running shorter each time. Took it in to the shop and got the fuel pump replaced,...

You need to check fuel pressure at the fuel rail.if pressure is at spec. Check spark at the plugs. Also replace relay for fuel pump if it isn't working. Could be a bad new fuel pump. Pull the codes first.

1995 volkswagen passat vr6 wont start the injectors are getting fuel but its not getting fuel to the engine. The injectors are getting spark and the fuel pressure is good.

if it fires then dies, you have to reset the alarm system with the key/remotes???otherwise you need to plug in the diagnostic computer(saves hours of "fun")

THE CAR LIGHTS WERE LEFT ON,NOW IT WONT START THE HAZARD LIGHTS COME ON BUT NO OTHERS I GOT A BOOST BUT IT STILL WONT WORK

It's possible that your battery has died. Depending on how old it is, they tend to last 4-5 years, anything beyond that and just replace the battery.

First thing to do is charge the battery overnight using a proper battery charger and try it again. If it won't hold a charge then it's likely time to change it. In the event the booster cables weren't hooked up properly you may have further electrical issues. Check all fuses and relays. Good luck.

Passat 93 vr6 wont start. I don't hear the starting motor just a small "click" when turning the key. Seems like a squirrell went inside the car... any ideas? may be a chewed up wire...?

Check the wires to your starter, if there all good then you may have a bad starter and need it replaced. Good luck and keep me posted.

Just wondering where the fuel filter is located.

i think the fuel filter is connected to the fuel pump below the vehicle in front of the tank.
