Digital camera write file error

When you hook your camera to your computer you are accessing it like a disk and changes made to "files" are saved to the disk. A common change is to rotate the image so it views correctly on the computer screen for images you turned the camera to take a portrait oriantation shot. That change is saved to the image on disk, then the camera can no longer display it because it is not the right "dimensions" for the camera (it is rotated)

Try some photo recovery software to rescue the files on your digital memory card, here are some for your options.

Be careful: Before your pictures are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the card in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.

it may be because the file may be corrupted or network must me inturupted check this out

Possible solution:

I had/have the same problem using L200 and SDHC memory card, called Samsung. Can't view certain pictures on camera or computer, camera freezes when viewing those certain pictures, green light flashing.

Samsung support told me that I needed to copy my (good) pictures to a computer first because a memory format will erase everything. Then format (menu->settings->format->yes) my memory card. Tried this just now and took some new pictures, so far so good.

When you upload a file that is not taken by this camera to the removable disk, the [File Error!] message will be displayed on the LCD monitor in the play mode, and nothing is displayed in the THUMBNAIL mode.

Make sure that the memory card is formated in the camera not the memory card reader on the computer. Make sure you save your edited files in jpeg file format. Avi for movies. The manual makes it sound like the camera will not read altered files or files not taken by the camera itself. edited files are not files taken by the camera. Good luck I hope this helps.

use explorer to download until you implement a suitable solution. my suggestion is to reinstall the canon software.
'read only' will not affect you. you can change the file attributes once you have the image downloaded, but it usually does not remain as 'read only' after downloading a copy.

When you try to transfer a large number of files (or a single large file) from a PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) device, such as a Sony Memory Stick, you may receive an error message saying that your computer cannot detect your camera or that, although it has detected the camera, the current picture cannot be copied. This happens because in older versions of WinXP the PTP driver limits file transfer to 2,048 files at one time and those files must be less than 210MB. If you update WinXP with Microsoft's latest service pack you should eliminate the problem.

File error means it cant read the file or the file is corrupt, i would try a new memory card or format the one you have.
