hmmm seems as if the LCD did take a heavy hit there and some connecting parts inside the LCD in the camera is damaged however this shouldnt affect how the camera performs but you can maybe still have the camera serviced at a best buy or other store that fixes cameras

Well yes.. Personally I would make a little Button from something and seat it in there, and use it like that?

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Regards
Andrea

If images cannot be imported automatically into the Windows PC, check [Precautions] below.

[Precautions]

- Temporarily terminate resident software such as antivirus software.

- Connect the AC adapter or load a fully charged battery into the digital camera.

- If RealPlayer 10 is installed, select "Tools" - "Preferences" and then disable "Automatic Services."

XXXen the digital camera is connected to the PC, if the FinePixViewer starts up and images in the digital camera are displayed, skip Steps 1 to 5 and start with Step 6.

1. Start up the PC and then connect the digital camera and PC using a USB cable.

2. The "USB MODE" setting of the digital camera may be set to "PC CAM."

Set "USB MODE" to "Card Reader" or "DSC."

*Only in the case of the digital cameras that have the "USB MODE" setting in the SETUP menu

3. Check whether or not any mark indicating the USB connection (USB, CARD READER, USB symbol with an arrow mark, etc.) is displayed on the LCD monitor of the digital camera.

If not, the digital camera and the PC are not connected properly. Check the following points.

a. Restart the PC, disconnect and connect the USB cable and then try again.

b. If the PC has multiple USB ports, connect the USB cable to another port and then try again.

If no mark indicating the USB connection is displayed even after performing above Steps (a) and (b), the digital camera or USB cable may have a problem.

4. Check whether or not "Removable Disk" is displayed in "My Computer." (For example, when the operating system is Windows XP, a FinePix icon in the shape of a digital camera is displayed.)

If "Removable Disk" is not displayed, install the USB driver again.

5. Automatic startup software (Exif Launcher) may not function properly.

Perform the following procedure.

[Windows XP]

a. Select "Start" - "My Computer."

b. Right-click the "FinePix" icon and then click "Properties."

c. Click the AutoPlay tab.

d. Click "Music files" and then select "Pictures" from the displayed list.

e. Select "Select an action to perform."

f. Select "Viewing images with FinePixViewer."

g. Click the "OK" button.

6. The Automatic Save Settings may be incorrect.

Specify the Automatic Save Settings again by following the procedure below.

a. Start up the FinePixViewer.

b. Select "Automatic Save Settings" in the "Settings" menu.

*If "*** not found" is displayed, click the "OK" button.

c. In the "Way of Saving" column, click the "Browse" button to specify the storage location.

Remove the card from camera and then connect the card to computer with a card reader, and then recover files from card with a card recovery program, recommended asoftech data recovery that helped me before.

I recently came into this camera and after a day of testing it, it's doing the same thing. My work around is this. When it's on I press the zoom function and the lens then pops out. Then after it's out, I remove the batteries while it's still on. Put the batteries back in, and power it on (lens will be popped out) and then it starts working. I only paid $7 for it at a good will. So I was taking a chance it worked somewhat. This may work for you temporarily. Not sure how long this one will last.

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.
