Try this:

While printer is off, hold down plus "+" and minus "-" keys then power printer on and continue to hold the + and - keys until "System Maintenance" appears on the display (you will see "please wait", "initializing", "ram check" before it appears).

When System Maintenance appears press Enter. You will be prompted for a password. The default password is "000000" (six zeroes). [Use the minus key for quicker access to the zeroes and press enter twice after the last zero to enter the menu.]

SOURCE: how do i reset the drum unit on my oki c710?

When the image drum cartridge reaches the 90% point of its life cycle on an Oki Data laser printer, a "Change Drum" message will display on the screen. Around this time the print typically starts to become faint or starts to deteriorate. When a new drum cartridge is installed, the drum cartridge counter needs to be reset for the printer to keep track of the life cycle of the replacement.

1.Turn the printer power off. Open the top cover.

2.Press the oval switch on the operator panel. Hold the switch down. Turn the printer power on.

3.Release the oval switch when the lights on the front panel flash twice. This indicates that the drum counter has been reset. Close the printer top cover.

SOURCE: am replacing my new yellow

Often this is caused by an aftermarket (rebuilt) drum. They simply didn't reset the chip counter. If this is a factory made drum then the problem might be caused by a bad or damaged sensor. Either way call your dealer and they can fix you up with a solution. I also find Okidata tech support to be quite helpful in answering these questions.

Oki b431 black image drum lock error

The drum lock error is caused by one of two items. Either the drum has seized and will not turn or the drum motor has failed and requires replacing.

Says to change drum, changed drum and still says "change drum", will not print.....

After replacing the image drum cartridge, reset the drum counter to keep a correct count of the number of pages printed on the image drum.
1. Turn the printer on while holding the MENU 1/Menu 2 button. USERMNT displays in the control panel window.
2. Press MENU 1/Menu 2 three times. DRUM CNT RESET displays.
3. Press ENTER. The counter will reset and the printer will go ON-LINE.

How do you rest an OKI c3530 image drum

Turn off the printer
Turn the printer on whilst holding down Menu button. (Display says user maintenance.)
Press the menu button three times. (The display will say drum counter reset.)
Press enter key. The system should go back on line, if not press on-line key.

You can just put a new fuse on the drum.
When you insert the drum the machine resets the counter and then blows the fuse. So if the unit is ok and you just wish to run it through another cycle just change the fuse.
This means you cannot just put a full unit in from another machine as it will not reset the counter until you put a new fuse in it as you found out.
This applies to drums transfer belt etc.
Note with regard to refilling the toner, some printers have 2 sections. 1 where you put the fresh toner and an after collection section in the same unit. You must empty the 2nd section if you refill it more than 2 or 3 times

How to reset black drum counter OKI C3300 ?

Buy a pack of 10 x .062A (1/16A) pico fuse RS part No 738-3062. Switch off printer. Remove the drum and toner together from the drum slot to be reset. Carefully crimp the legs of the fuse around the contact wires on the right side of the drum slot. Make sure fuse legs are making a good connection to the wires and aren't touching the frame. switch on printer and allow it to detect the absence of the drum. Switch off printer and carefully remove the now blown fuse. Re-install the toner and drum assemnbly. Drum life is now reset. see pic:

I would like to reset the drum counter of my OKI 8800

You need to insert a 1/16A fuse into the drum and let printer blow it thus resetting the counter. Don't use fuses with the higher rate - they can easily blow your printer instead! Much more expencive that putchasing a new drum. By the way - 20k at continuous printing, meaning print jobs are as big as 100-200 pages each. The less pages per job the sooned drum life ends up.,

Changed drum but it is still saying 'change drum'!

On some printers after you change the drum, you have to reset the counter so the printer knows the drum has been changed. How to reset the counter is as follows:
1. press the ONLINE button to return the printer to off line status.
2. press the MENU button repeatedly until the MAINTENANCE MENU is desplayed, then press the SELECT button.
3. Press the item button until DRUM COUNT RESET is displayed.
4. Press the SELECT button and the Drum Counter is reset.

Hope this helps.
