What is the validity of a 2yr world wide guarantee given with a new yashica europe camera model hdv 310j which I purchased in lanzarote last may when I have been informed that kyocera yashica withdrew

I bought a Yashica Europe digital 24 mp camera but it is only 5 mp effective. I don't understand this. Why is it not advertised as a 5mp digital camera? I feel I paid way too much for it because I thought it was 24mp. I cannot find the model on the web. Model GD-298 D. Any suggestions?

The Contax/Yashica lens mount was never popular to start with anywhere in the world, and the AF version of that mount was even rarer.

Your camera can only use lenses which are scarce, expensive and hard to find. Just use the camera as it is, and get another camera body with more widely available lenses such as Nikon, Canon, Pentax or Olympus. You can often pick those up for free or very cheaply.

Sorry, there isn't one. Contax/Yashica no longer exists as a company and there is no ongoing servicing/spare part support.

If you have a fault then you must use any generic camera repair shop of your choice, but some faults will not be repairable if spare parts are required unless the shop has scrap donor spares. Given that Contax/Yashica were never mass sellers, finding spares donors is also difficult.

I don't reconize the model number but is this a new camera......it seems to me that this may be in the range of 20-25 years old.....if so the original manual was pretty scant..........but the camera was great....try the normal sources.....ebay, amazon, and maybe even C-Net.
