reinstall the driver and check if it works

I suggest you go into control panel and device manager and see if your internal mic is listed there. If it is right click on it and see if it is selected as your default mic. I believe it may be un-selected. If that doesn't work I would just use the external mic with Skype as the internal mics with most laptops aren't that good anyway.

While most laptops comes with a built in webcam and microphone, this particular model does not. If you don't see a web cam built in to the top of your screen, chances are you also won't find an internal microphone. You'll need to purchase additional accessories in order to use your laptop with Skype.

This is usually a drivers issue, goto the toshiba website and download the drivers specific to your web site, if you have the original drivers cd that came with the computer thay may work but are usually very old and updated drivers will be on the website.

I have a Dell 1545 with Dell web cam central & I've had this issue. The problem is that Dell web cam central installs it's own microphone settings onto your laptop called something like Dell web cam Live!. This isn't the built in microphone in my laptop & maybe not yours either. You have to change the settings for your computer system & Dell web cam central. Go to start> control panel> sound> recording .. on mine there is an option for Microphone "High Definition Audio Device" ... that is the built in mic. You want that for your default & apply it. Also .. as a side note .. I disabled the web cam central Live! microphone completely from this window. Then open Dell web cam central & go to the "Record Video's" option. In the middle of this is an orange button with a video camera icon. Next to this on the same button is a little arrow pointing down .. click that. Under microphone .. choose Microphone "High Definition Audio Device" just like the sound option in control panel. I've done this & it's completely fixed. I can record videos with sound & use my built in mic in voice/video chat.

A V2000 should not come with an internal microphone; that is, I've never seen one. Check the front of your computer, where the headphone jack is: if there is another one with a little microphone icon beside it, then you will have to purchase an external mic.

The same thing happend to me. I, unplugged the cam. reinstalled the drivers from the toshiba cd. rebooted. plugged my cam back in. and It was working normally again. Then I reinstalled livemessenger rebooted again and everything is worked fine. Good luck with it mate.

If your web cam is working on the unit itself but fails to open on chats or messengers, do this:
1. Turn off UAC (user access controls), it should be on control panel, user accounts.
2.Test your webcam if it would work now on chats, if not, proceed
3. Download the latest chicony web cam software on support.toshiba.com (you must select your exact model)
4.After downloading, go into programs and features on control panel and uninstall the camera software
5. Install now the downloaded camera software
6.Test your cam, it should work now

My built in web cam for compaq 765tu not working, as all the drivers have been installed sucessfully and no unknown device in present in the device manager
