If your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it

click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll to sound video and game controllers you might see a yellow question exclamation mark? ! or a red X Right click to

reinstall drivers

click start control panel sounds and audio volume advanced speakers make sure you have selected the

(appropriate speakers) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have selected the correct speaker settings there

click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it

if his does not fix the problem

click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker

volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar for any

further volume control settings you will need to right click on the speaker volume icon system select adjust volume

click start control panel sounds and audio volume advanced speakers select the appropriate speakers

from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand system

speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check

the speaker plug/outlets is usually at the back of the computer or if its a laptop on the side

you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make

sure the connection is good with no dust as dust causes static electricity

clean your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is

no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit

dust causes static to build up in a computer

hope this helps

NO auido outputdivice is installed

You can download the audio and device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on thislink to download the drivers: - http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen

My sound went off my pc not sure how it went my sound card is bulid in on my n1996 onboard chip set i ave downloaded loads of drivers my sister got the same motherboard as me and in her auido setting for...

Could be many things.....You didn't say what Operating System you're on. So I'm going to assume it's Windows XP. First of all it could be that it's just muted. Goto START-CONTROL PANEL-Then goto SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICE tab or icon. Under the VOLUME tab, click on ADVANCED tab this will bring up another display box, make sure that there is no check mark in any of the boxes marked MUTE. If so, uncheck it, make sure the volume is up or at least not turned all the way down.

Secondly you want to make sure that you have your speakers connected in the ports to the sound card in the back of your PC correctly, and make sure that the volume is turned up as well on the speakers. Let us know how this turned out. Good luck.

Device detection

Need to check bios first for any on board sound auido devices that are enabled and disable it. Try to restart windows and see if detects. If it doesn't work then try to move the sound card to another slot on motherboard and restart computer.
