Send your complete model number, just to make sure we are working on same washer.
First check the lid latch switch by unplugging washer first and remove the font panel. Look up to where the switch is mounted. I am not positive that is your [problem but know there has been many problem with that switch. It will begin to melt ad cause the power to motor to be lost in a bad connection.

SOURCE: Roper washer RAX4232PQO doesn't agitate or spin

It sounds like you may have a broken motor coupling. This is a common problem that usually occurs through normal wear and tear. Replacement couplers are more resilient and resist breaking much better. If the washer will fill, will not agitate or spin, but will still drain, these are the symptoms of a broken motor coupling. The accompanying noise of the motor engaging and a rattling/grinding sound is also a common symptom. This is a very simple and inexpensive repair. The following link explains step-by-step how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385252-replacing_motor_coupling_whirlpool_top

The part number is included in the link I provided. You can purchase a replacement on line at appliancepartspros.com for about $11.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: Roper is manufactured by Whirlpool and uses Whirlpool parts, so these instructions will apply.

SOURCE: Roper washer will not spin or drain-

you may have something stuck in your pump, preventing it from draining. The washer will not spin until it does drain. You'll have to empty the tub (you can do this with gravity by taking the drain hose and putting it down near the floor in a bucket). You will have to take the cabinet off, then take the hoses off the pump. Have some towels ready! Look inside the pump and hoses for an obstruction. If the fins inside the pump are damaged, you will have to replace it. If there is no obstruction here, look down inside the hose drain. Run a coat hanger down if neccessary to see if theres a blockage. The pump could be dead, too.
You could have a dead spot on the timer, but this is doubtful.

SOURCE: Hi, I have an Admiral

Feel the motor. If it is real hot after it quit it could be toast. Or something in the pump could have over heated it. Take the belt off and turn the pump to see if it is hard to turn, look in it to see if something got in it. Tip the washer back and you will see this:

Check the motor shaft for play or stiffness. If it works after it cools down then the motor overload tripped it. Might be the pump might not be.

I have a Roper ras7133kq1, top load washer. About 3 months ago I replaced the lid switch because it wouldn't drain or spin. Now it will ONLY spin, it won't fill with water or agitate, the only way...

If it won't fill you will need to replace the "water inlet valve" on the back of the unit. The unit will only agitate if it gets the signal from the water level pressure switch.
Here is the valve to order.

My roper top load washer model rtw4440vq fills with water but wont wash, spin or drain

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Motor Coupling If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor coupling might have failed. The motor coupling connects the motor to the washer transmission. It is designed to fail if the washer is overloaded in order to protect both the motor and
Drive Belt If the washer won't spin or agitate, check the drive belt. If the belt is broken or if it isn't tight on the pulleys the washer won't spin or agitate properly.

Drive Motor If the washer won't spin or agitate the drive motor might be defective. This is not common. Check all of the other related parts to this symptom before replacing the motor. If the motor is visibly burned out or physically damaged, replace it.

Stator Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the stator assembly might be burned out. The stator is essentially one half of a motor, it interacts with the tub by creating a strong electro-magnet. If the stator burns out the washer won't spin or agitate. Check the stator for continuity. This part is often misdiagnosed.

Door or Lid Latch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Motor Control Board If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor control board might be defective. The motor control board provides power to the motor as well as direction and force. If the motor control board is defective the washer may not work at all or function properly.

My maytag mtw5600tq1 washer won't hold water. Its

Hi,
Its sounds like you have a siphon going on, this happens when the drain hose it too low during fill and as the water enters the unit it exits through the drain hose. To stop this the drain hose needs to be higher than the tub itself, meaning: raise the drain hose behind the washer to about control panel area. This will or should stop the siphon effect and allow the water to remain in the tub. If the drain hose is low this siphon will start again.
I hope this helps

Washer won't run to do wash cycle

Don't worry about that "fuzzy little belt" ;) I mean - just toss it.
If the motor runs but the agitator is not agitating - check the coupling, the two plastic thingies and a piece of rubber between transmission and motor.
If it will not do anything after filling up - the problem is electrical, and it can be anything from the water level switch to timer to motor... The schematic diagram is inside the control panel. To open the panel remove 2 phillips screws holding control panel's side plastic caps. The screws are in the back. Good luck! %)
