Dell Inspiron 570 with Macafee anti-virus and Win 7 BSOD's trying to uninstall preinstalled Macafee product. Haw can I get rid of it and install another (Norton) product? I have 2 IDENTICAL Dells

LOL, you are going from one terrible product to another one. Norton and McAfee are core hogs, use a lot of resources and will slow your system to a crawl, especially if you let it expire. Why would you want something on your system that is so difficult to uninstall? Give em the boot. Try one of the FREE Antivirus programs such as AVG, AVAST or Microsoft Security Essentials.

Dell did not create this monster, your third party software is the culprit and they just don't deal with it if it's not their product.

Anyway if you tried the normal uninstall by clicking Start/Programs and opening the McAfee Folder and clicking uninstall and you're getting the BSOD, maybe try uninstalling it in Safe Mode With Networking.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn itback on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFEMODE. Take the Safe Mode With Networking option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will lookdifferent to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this isnormal. You can also go into the Control Panel and Uninstall the Program. Click Start/Control Panel look for Program and Features or Programs or Uninstall.
You can try the McAfee Removal Tool. Download and Install it, then run it. The link is below:http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

Hi i am trying to reinstall win xp but its saying nvrd32.sys could not be found

That is the driver file for your NVidia graphics card

You should be able to continue the install by skipping the file and using the generic XP drivers. On completion download and install the NVidia drivers and all sholud be OK

I reformatted my dell inspiron 6000 and upon installing the driver for the video the laptop went blank, but if i boot on vga mode windows comes thru

When you up the computer press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode.
Then go to control panel ->Display-> Settings
Then change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
Then check .
If still same issue then uninstall graphic driver and install again then it works.

Let me know if you need more assistance.
Thanks.

When i turn on my computer i get File nvrd32.sys not found....

nvr32.sys is a NVIDIA nForce RAID Driver, this driver essentially controls your hard drive in connection with the motherboard.

If you are able to boot into safe mode (pressing F8 during start up until the option becomes available), then you should be able to install the drivers

Inspiron 6000 Drivers can be found here, look for Chipset:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_6000&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid

If this does not work for you then you will most likely need to re-install windows.

Screen on Dell Inspiron 6000 turned sideways. How

Power off the laptop.
Power it on and tap F2 at the Dell logo. check if the screen is sidways in the BIOS or not. If it looks normal in the BIOS restart the computer and go to control panel and uninstall the Video drivers. Restart the computer. It will boot up with basic drivers. Install the video drivers and the issue should be fixed.
If the display is side ways even in the BIOS try a BIOS update from support.dell.com and if you dont have an update reflash the BIOS with teh version availbale on the website.

Dell inspiron 6000 drivers or recovery cd for win xp sp2

You need to go to www.support.dell.com and select "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have the proper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installed return to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag", (serial number) of the 6000 laptop. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for every customer's computer they sell.
