Dell m90 not charging to 100%

My M90 battery is not charging over 81%. I am running windows 7 and it reports 'plugged in, charging' but the charging indicator led turns off. So basically its not charging. I checked the bios and it also says that the battery is charging but actually its not. So the bios and windows are reporting the same incorrect thing. Then i took the battery out and checked the charge indicator lights on the battery, and all 5 leds turn on. Dell says the each led corresponds to 20% charge, so at 81% i suppose 4 will be on but all 5 on means the battery is at 100% ? One more thing. I completely discharged the battery to 0% according to bios and then checked the charge indicator lights on the battery and 1 light still turned on. It looks like the bios is reading the battery charge incorrectly? Will some one please tell me a solution to this problem. Also the battery lasts about 2 hour 20 minutes with web surfing, wifi on ~57 % brightness.

That usually indicates battery is beginning to go bad. Eventually it will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced.

usually, its an indication that the battery is nearing the end of its useful life. you can try to use another battery to isolate it further. If the same thing happens with another battery, chances are, the mobo is failing. Flashing the BIOS can usually help with battery issues. If another battery works fine and your computer is within its first year since you bought it, you can request a replacement battery from Dell

SOURCE: AC adapter not recognized--battery will not charge.

there's only 2 possible issue with this problem and 2 solution.

Solution 1 update the BIOS.

(for DELL system's it will require that the battery still has at least 10% charge meaning that this solution is not going to be possible unless you have another battery that is currently charged. if so go here ) the BIOS version there is A16, if you have a different version you can update it.

Solution 2 replace the motherboard

if the problem still persist after going thru solution 1 there's only one step you need to take, you'll have to replace the motherboard for this type of problem. I hope you still have warranty for this computer, you can either have it shipped at the DEPOT or have an onsite come out to replace it.

hope that helps.

hit me back on the results.

sounds like your charging circuit isn't working or the adapter isn't putting out enough power or amprage to fully charge the battery, or you battery went bad. if the charging circuit is bad then so is *********** board, time to burry the system and buy a new one

My Mic in Dell Precision m90 stopped working after i downloaded Skype? Any suggestions on how to get it working again?

Have you checked the sound settings in Skype? Usually skype lets you to set your sound equipment individually rather than using the windows general settings.

Especially if you have onboard mic. Try the call settings sound options in skype and check to see if it is working.

Laptop SATA drive not working

You cannot take a hard drive out of your faulty HP laptop and insert it into any laptop and expect it to run/boot up. When Windows is installed on a laptop, it is configured with device drivers for that particular laptop and it wont work in another laptop with different devices.
Replace the Dell's hard drive back into its laptop and the Dell should function normally.
To recover data off the SATA Hitachi hard drive, connect this hard drive into an USB hard drive adapter and then plug this adapter with the Hitachi hard drive into the USB port of your Dell. The Dell will detect the Hitachi as an external Mass storage device. You can then open the various folders and files to back up your data onto the Dell laptop or USB memory stick.
If you want to, you can use the Hitachi hard disk as an USB external hard drive by installing it into an USB SATA hard drive enclosure.

Nikon FG. Replaced 3V battery. On the M90 setting the film advances OK. On 'program' or other settings it will only advance once and after shutter fires it will not advance until put on...

M90 is a battery independent setting - it requires no battery power to function. If it won't advance until put on M90 from other settings, then either you're not allowing for proper exposure, have the settings incorrectly set (film speed, etc), or you have shutter issues. The shutter is electronically controlled on all settings except M90. In the auto setting, your lense MUST be set to the smallest aperture (biggest number). On any other setting, you can use it however you'd like. I'd suggest unloading any film, setting the shutter speed dial to 1/125 or so, opening the back and looking thru and firing the shutter. If it's not snapping open and immediately closed, theres an issue and you need to consult a repair technician either locally, through Nikon, or through KEH Camera online.

I have lost my charger and was trying to charge the camera by having it plugged into my laptop. This seemsd to be working until I closed down a text box that said something like
"No new images found"
Since then, when I press start button it flashes white and nothing happens. The batt' had enough juice to open the lense before I did the above delete.......

My Dell precision m90 stopped working. It won't turn on. It sounds like it wants to but then stops. It was saying that the battery needed to b replaced 4 like a month. Do I need 2by a new battery? Or...

The computer runs off the battery, if it will not hold a charge or take a charge, there will be no power to run the computer. Rechargeable batterys will get to a point of no power at all and will not except a charge of anykind.

I have a Dell M90. It has shut down due to overheating. Now it will no turn on. Do you think this could be a fan issue? I purchased this 7-5-2006

This could be a sign that your laptop is overheating. If you touch the laptop while it is running & you find it too hot, make sure that the fan is running properly & that the air ways are not blocked.
You can blow compressed air into the cooling vents of the fan. If you notice clouds of dust coming out, then it might be a good idea to disassemble the laptop, clean the fan & air ways, & reassemble it back. If the fan has failed & is no longer running, it might need to be replaced.

I am a Support Tech for the Army and really can't find a solution to this problem. When I plug in my Cat5 cable it still says network unplugged only on my M90 computers, all other Dells I have connect find...

Perhaps the "other" Dell's network cards have auto-sense, and you're using a crossover cable... when you shove it into the M90, you get nothing because the wiring of the Patch Cable is not right.

Try a known good "straight through" patch cable.
