My M90 battery is not charging over 81%. I am running windows 7 and it reports 'plugged in, charging' but the charging indicator led turns off. So basically its not charging. I checked the bios and it also says that the battery is charging but actually its not. So the bios and windows are reporting the same incorrect thing. Then i took the battery out and checked the charge indicator lights on the battery, and all 5 leds turn on. Dell says the each led corresponds to 20% charge, so at 81% i suppose 4 will be on but all 5 on means the battery is at 100% ? One more thing. I completely discharged the battery to 0% according to bios and then checked the charge indicator lights on the battery and 1 light still turned on. It looks like the bios is reading the battery charge incorrectly? Will some one please tell me a solution to this problem. Also the battery lasts about 2 hour 20 minutes with web surfing, wifi on ~57 % brightness.

That usually indicates battery is beginning to go bad. Eventually it will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced.

usually, its an indication that the battery is nearing the end of its useful life. you can try to use another battery to isolate it further. If the same thing happens with another battery, chances are, the mobo is failing. Flashing the BIOS can usually help with battery issues. If another battery works fine and your computer is within its first year since you bought it, you can request a replacement battery from Dell

there's only 2 possible issue with this problem and 2 solution.
Solution 1 update the BIOS.
(for DELL system's it will require that the battery still has at least 10% charge meaning that this solution is not going to be possible unless you have another battery that is currently charged. if so go here ) the BIOS version there is A16, if you have a different version you can update it.
Solution 2 replace the motherboard
if the problem still persist after going thru solution 1 there's only one step you need to take, you'll have to replace the motherboard for this type of problem. I hope you still have warranty for this computer, you can either have it shipped at the DEPOT or have an onsite come out to replace it.
hope that helps.
hit me back on the results.

The 4 orange flashes mean the battery is defective.

sounds like your charging circuit isn't working or the adapter isn't putting out enough power or amprage to fully charge the battery, or you battery went bad. if the charging circuit is bad then so is *********** board, time to burry the system and buy a new one
