Datacard SP35 + giving broken ribbon error

Error message for any card : Pr-01724, the print ribbon is broken. The card will print either half or more of the card, but not everything, and sometimes it's slightly misaligned or there are blotches of black in the card.

You have to clean the roller under the printerhead.
The big black one..

I suggest you install Diagnostics.

Go to motor test, and take the transport fast reverse. 300 sec.

Now you can clean the roller easy.

I got a color print ribbon and it won't install


Please post the configuration for the printer which is on the left side under the cover (white sticker) and your ribbon part number. If you are sure both are correct you may have a defective print ribbon or your printer will need service.

PR-01724 Ribbon Break

The print ribbon is broken.

Possible Cause 1: The print ribbon has broken or is not installed.

Solution 1: Trim the broken ribbon evenly and tape the cut end of the ribbon to the ribbon on the take-up spool. Install the ribbon cartridge.
NOTE: Do not switch take-up spools when fixing.

Possible Cause 2: If the ribbon type is K or KT, the print ribbon is at the end of the roll.

Solution 2: Load a new roll of monochrome print ribbon.

Technical issues:

•If you have recently changed edge-to-edge settings using the SmartDriver, printing might be too close to the edge of the card. Change edge to edge settings.

•You might have moved the print ribbon while the printer power was off. The next card will print correctly. The printer is designed to allow you to fix problems while the printer power is on.

•If the print ribbon is stuck to the card, the Intensity setting might be so high that printing causes the ribbon to stick to the card. Lower the Intensity or power setting.

•The card design might be longer than the card size. Change the card design to be less than or equal to the card size in the long direction (3.37 inches or 85.60 mm).

•Printing might not be positioned properly on the card. Change the "Left/Right" position of printing (using the SmartDriver) so the printing begins and ends on the card.

I have a datacard SP35 printer. I recently changed the ribbon and cleaned the machine. Now the cards are printing however they are only prining all yellow, all pink, all blue, black only, or half pink...

Datacard sp35 - cleaned it several times, First it will tell me the card is lost, we fish the card out, next it will tell me that the printer ribbon is broken. it is not broken, we have wasted so much...


Sounds like the rollers are going bad. From time to time the rollers on this device can definitely go bad. That's the reason you have to keep fishing for your cards. Try replacing the rollers on the device.
It may require some technical knowledge.

The SP35 red light is on


please give me the solution as fast as possible.
( out of print ribbon.(pr-01726) replace the K print ribbon, replace the cleaning sleeve, and click ok when ready

My datacard sp35 will only print in yellow. What


Do you get any errors?
1 st unplug and plug in to reset power
2nd replace print ribbon with new one, could be bad ribbon or bad RFID tag on the ribbon
3rd try printing a different card
if still not working i would recommend sending in for service.

Ribbon is breaking constantly in every print of card


in order of most likely
1 edge to edge settings in printer tool box are off.
2. print ribbon carriage (blue part you put the ribbon on is bad)
3. Bad ribbon
4. dealer needs to service to calibrate print head temp
