SOURCE: DVD player won't play DVD, says "load"

The unit can recognize that a disc has been loaded but can not read the contents. This can be as simple as a dirty lens or more drastic like failing optics. Try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that fails to correct the problem and a music CD will play OK, then the optics are failing. DVDs require more laser power to read than a music CD.

SOURCE: My Toshiba won't play blue ray movies

possible cause is hardware compatibility. But if your unit was been played it before, then try re-scan your system with antivirus.

CD is stuck inside of a tv/dvd player

Try shutting the television off. With the unit turned off, hold the eject button and turn the unit back on. Continue holding the eject button for 30 seconds or until the DVD comes out.
If this doesn't work, try unplugging the TV for 5 minutes and attempting the above steps.
Hope this helps!

New Region Free firmware (February 2012) for BDX1100 is now available on ebay with shipping worldwide. This makes your player region free for DVD's and multi region for Blu-ray. It also corrects playback issues with existing Firmware and is not available for download from any Toshiba websites.

I've read on a few websites that the bdx1100 blu ray player recognizes tons of file extensions. i noticed mkv files on that lost. i've tried a couple different approaches at this and i've yet to be...

Check you have the latest firmware on the device.
Also MKV is just a container for different formats, you need to check which versions it excepts ie H264 etc. The manual should say.
You may have to recode your films to the right version.

Loud grinding, spinning noise with game in console.

Even if it is still playing dvds it might be the dvd-rom drive, usally it spins a game faster than a dvd. Or it could be the harddrive if it was trying to save something. try to download a demo or something to check the hard drive.
