Driver side power window shot

Figuring it was the most-used toggle that was the problem I got another door control unit. No luck. Examined the wiring and connectors looking for shorts, no evidence visible. Pulled the window motor and had it tested, works fine. What's next? Haven't checked the fuse box because the other 3 windows work fine.

Him ,ine start ok and gradually grinds to a halt whne its half open. I assumed that this would be a tired motor or siezed up linkages.

I haven't pulled it apart as I expect I'll end up killing it altogether!

Sometimes on older models, the wiring between the door and the pillars is broken,

Pull the rubber cover over the wiring between the door and the pillar and inspect for broken wires. Even if you had power to the motor, when you close the door, there’s a possibility that the broken wire moves and losses connectivity

Let me know, Pierre ( Montreal )

97 Accord power window. Driver side window not moving.

I would check the switch. I had a 97 Accord LX coupe for 20 years and replaced the driver window regulator several times (had been hit on that side so I dont think things lined up right, wearing out the regulator). Every time the regulator messed up it was because the cable that attaches to the window would break at a plastic piece. The window would almost always fall into the door. Once the cable was loose and got wrapped around something but the window still fell down some. Regulator would make a horrible grinding noise as the cable got tangled. So if your window worked fine one day and nothing the next, I would start with the switch. It's possible the motor died, but that never happened to me, even with cheap aftermarket units. Could also be a broken wire. Might need to take door panel off and test for power at the plug for the regulator. If power- replace regulator. If no power- keep working back to the switch. I replaced the power mirror control with a used one from ebay, so it's possible to find an oem switch.

Follow me here: The driver side passenger window will go up and down while operated independently with the switch on its door. However, the driver seat master switch will not control window to go down

Not following you completely.
When you say driver side passenger window, you mean the driver side rear window ?
The window motors get power thru a power window control unit and thru the driver master switch.
You'll need a shop manual with the wiring diagrams to track down the problem.

2004 Malibu Maxx-Driver side and rear power windows will not go down. The power window controls for the driver side and both rear windows do not work. The only window that works is the front passenger,...

well you can try "jumping" the correct wire to see if window got up or down... this will tell u if switch is bad... but I would just go but a new master switch... try that before you cause more damage..

My driver side power window is stuck in the down position is there a way to get it closed? The toggle doesn't work but the rest of the toggles for locks pass window and power mirrors do

Remove the door panel, and the wire connector for the power window motor. Check to see if power is there when pressing the window switch. Check both wires, one for up and one for down. If power is present then its your window motor, if not your switch or power source. Good luck

My doors are one by one failing nothing seems to work on the door the lock or window both rear doors 2001 passat glx

First, check the fuses. They are on the side of the dash...open driver door all the way, and pop open cover with a scewdriver. A card inside and a diagram on the cover will tell you the right fuses to check. They also have relays. Those are located behind the fuses, but not sure how to check them. Hope it is a fuse.

VW Polo 2001 - Electric Windows wont open from Drivers side..

I removed all 3 switches from driver and passenger door, which is really easy with a flat head screw driver. took them completely apart, very carefully, with a small screwdriver out of a christmas cracker. put them back together again and 2 switches started working, so I put 1 in the drivers side and 1 in the passengers side so now my drivers door window opens and I lean over to open the passenger door. cool, no money spent...yet ;o)

Power window not working

it sounds by the motor clicking that your power window motor is shot.....If you jump 12 volts to the terminals on the motor does it work?.................if it does you can at least get it up.......if you put the power to it and it goes down reverse the wires on the terminals and it will go up.But it sounds to me like you need a new one.
hope this helps!..............Good luck!

Power windows

Under the dash next to the steering columb there is a control module for the power windows. this has a series of relays inside. Toggle the switch on one of the doors with the power on and you should hear a clicking noise coming from the box. If no noise, check relays and fuses under the hood near battery before replacing the control module.
