AC blower motor not working but has 13 volts to it and I have put jumpers on motor to terminals and motor spins in high speed

13 volts coming threw plug at all times even when all controls are off. Tested blower motor by jumping it directly to battery and blower motor runs in high speed.

Testimonial: "He nailed it on the head. It was the resister. Many thanks"

    Thanks You and with resister bad it will still allow 13 volts to come into plug. I will try resister and let you know. Thank you again.

    make sure your plug to resistor is not melted or deformed, this is a common problem, the terminals get sloppy over time from voltage to where they start to ark and get hot and plastic melts and you lose ground.

    if you have 13 volts to blower motor and it does'nt work then check ground and see if it is grounded. cause it takes power and ground to make a component work.

    I just checked schematic, if you have automatic or manual controls, they both ground in the blower resistor, so make sure your ground is good going to resistor...disc plug and hook your meter or test light to ground and check the black wire to see if it's grounded with the plug disconnected. if using test light you have to put aligator clip on 12+power source and touch the probe end to heavy black term WITH PLUG UNHOOKED from resistor, if it lights up the ground is good. If using a meter, use continuity setting and if the ground is good the meter will zero out. Good Luck....9 times out 10 its the resistor

    Thank you and I will give that a try when I get home tonight. I will let you know and again thanks for all you help.

How about checking voltage into & out of resistor for difference. Some swear by high only when resistor goes, but in past I have had intermittent use of other speeds before it finally went & I had high only.

Replace your blower motor relay. It's located under the hood on the firewall passenger side.93ecbeb.jpg

SOURCE: 1994 Buick Lesabre blower runs on all speeds

If you are referring to the AC blower, you may want to check on the fan switch. It could be caused by bad contacts or loose connections. There is also a resistor if you would trace the wiring of the switch to the evaporator under the dash. Check if it is still intact. It may be partially be burned.

You need to replace the blower control module. It's about six inches from the blower motor on top of the heater case on the passenger sid of the blower motor.

What is an AC diode fuse? I have a 2006 AWD Pontiac Torrent the AC/Heat doesn't work, I've changed all fuses for the HAVAC and still no AC/Heat blowing out of vents. What could be the problem?

Could be a number of thing's ! Testing the electrical circuit is the way to find out what's wrong . Using a wiring diagram and a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter . Videos on youtube showing how to test it ! Without testing i would only be guessing . Does it work in high speed ? In high speed it by-passes the resistor . If it doesn't work in any speed more then likely the blower motor is the problem !
Air Speed
The HVAC control assembly applies ground to the blower motor control circuit that corresponds to the selected blower speed. The resistors and the blower motor are in a series circuit. The following list represents the number of resistors in series with the blower motor per particular speed request:
• Low speed--3 resistors
• Medium 1 speed--2 resistors
• Medium 2 speed--1 resistor
When the operator requests High speed, the HVAC control assembly applies ground directly to the blower motor through the high blower motor control circuit. The resistor card has a fusible link which, if blown, will require that the card be replaced.

Why does motor shut off when I turn on the heat and air?

Electrical issue. The heat or air draws more current and the electrical system probably drops voltage below the threshold the electronic control module can handle. First check that the Alternator is charging correctly. When running the system should have 13 to14.7 volts measured at the battery. If you turn on the heat/AC and it drops significantly you have a current draw issue (most likely bad fan motor, or short) If the voltage is below 13 volts when the car is running your alternator is likely bad.

I have a 1993 sel, had problems with ac unit changed the eveparotor. The ac now works but the fan will only operate on slow speed. As in on low there is nothing when u set the fan speed to max then some...

Yes,could be your blower resistor is bad,it's right next to the blower motor,it controls the blower motor speed,easy to replace. Duralast Blower Motor Resistor Just took a guess at the model type since you didn't state,wow,high dollar price,guess it comes with a Mercedes,paid about 18 bucks for mine on my 85 Nissan.

Blower only works on high speed in 2003 focus

BLOWER MOTOR WORK ONLY ONE SPEED.YOU COULD HAVE FAULTY BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR OR BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL SWITCH BAD.USE VOLT METER CHECK VOLTAGE AT EACH CONTROL SWITCH SPEED TERMINAL. IF POWER IS AT EACH TERMINAL ON CONTROL SWITCH YOU MORE LIKELY HAVE A BAD BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR.

Ac will not blow threw vent

The ac resistor is located on the blower motor under the right side of the dash. Looks like a black box bolted to the housing of the motor. You can check the resistor by first looking to see if the thermal limiter is still good. The thermal limiter keeps other parts of the resistor from being damaged from to much heat. If there is stuff melting from between the contacts then you need to replace your resistor due to the thermal limiter damage. If no damage then check your continuity between the terminals of the resistor withan ohm meter. These are the ohm reswistance that they shopuld be within if they are not then you need to replace resistor:between terminals 2&3 8ohms or less, 2&4 1.8 and 2 ohm, 1&4 2.3 and 2.5 ohms. If all tests passed check brown and Orange wire(positive) terminal and check for voltage. There should be at least 10 volts being supplied to this terminal (when the motor is not in off position). If there is not at least 10 volts there then the problem lies somewhere between fuse panel and ac control panel. If there is 10 volts of power and it still is not working check the ground wire(orange and black) to see if the ground wire is insufficient. I don't know if you need all that but If you do end up trouble shooting you have the info you need. I hope i helped.

My heat and AC fan wont come on and all the fuses are fine

What I would do is pull the fan blower motor speed switch, plug the wires back into it while you're holding it in your hand, run the car, and check with a multitester and see if you are getting voltage at the switch. Should be something like:
High=12-14 volts
MHi=8-10 volts
MLo=4-6 volts
Low=2-4 volts
OFF=no voltage

If you get voltage but the fan still doesn't work, then it's either a bad ground, or the motor is bad. If you can access the blower motor wire connections(sometimes its easier to try this with it removed from the vehicle), then you could try jumping the blower motor at the wiring connection with a known good 12 volt source, and if you STILL can't get the motor to spin then it's seized up or it's just a bad motor. If you have the motor removed, try spinning the squirrel cage by hand. Is it stiff? Seized? Probably need a new one if it doesn't spin freely by hand.

Hope this helps!

99 cougar blower motor problems

Use the diagram at the link below. First check fuses 23 and 37. If good, pull out the blower relay and probe the relay socket with a voltmeter or test light. Turn the key on and turn the blower switch to high. There should be two hot terminals in the relay socket. If good, move your red lead to battery positive and probe the other two terminals. One should be solid ground and the other should show a few volts. If all good, push the relay back in to see if it clicks. If it clicks, move to the blower motor connector. Put your black lead to chassis lead to ground and probe the terminal with the purple wire. It should be hot. If yes, the problem is at the switch. Verify that yhe switch is getting ground on the black wire at the control head connector.
If you can run these tests, you will find the problem. Let me know if you get stuck.

Limited heat

first, check the fuse for the blower motor. If ok, you may have a bad switch or bad blower motor. If you are a techie, you should jumper 12 volts to the blower motor hot terminal. see if it blows then. You also have a blower motor resister that gives you the 4 blower speeds, but usually when it fails, you have high speed only.

good luck
