You need a system disk first of all. Put the disk in the drive, turn the computer off then reboot. Watch the screen for which key it says to hit to change the boot sequence or boot order. Hit that key when it is shown. This is a one time solution that is only for the current boot process.

To make it permanent, boot the computer an notice what keys it says to hit to get into the Bios or System Setup. Hit that key when shown. You can change the boot sequence or boot order and make it a permanent change in the bios. The most common and best boot sequence is to have the CD drive 1st and the Hard Drive 2nd. Just make sure no disk is in the cd drive when you boot it up or you will get a error saying no boot record or system disk found.

SOURCE: compaq evo n800 laptop built-in wireless internet

right click "my computer", left click properties, select "Device Manager" Expand anything to do with "Network Adapters" and make sure there are no problems / exclamation marks / unknown devices.
If there are, look for your wireless driver on..

depending on your model. if this doesn't work go to www.hp.co.uk and download the driver then install it.
If you can't detect any wireless networks, make sure your wireless card is activated - I believe this involves holding down FN (bottom left of keyboard) while then pressing F2 key at top. after this try try to search for wirless access points points.

Good Luck,

Cheers,

Colin

SOURCE: non system disk or disk

Yes. Your laptop is far worth fixing. If you can do it yourself, open the back cover where your hard drive exists to make sure it did not get out of position (Probably due to shock during travel)

Then using a windows xp installation cd, run the laptop from the cd and when the setup screen reaches the point of "pressing enter to continue installation, or "C" for a recovery, pre C to go to the DOS prompt screen. On that screen, use the command >CHKDSK and press enter..

It should detect to disk and fix it for you. If it wont detect the disk, then probably you damaged it and need to replace it. You will have to go to a store to purchase one.

Can not find operating system in evo n115

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty..Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

My compaq evo nc620c laptop wont boot up, only goes to the "compaq" log screen from where I can go into F10 rom based setup or F12 network boot only.

Without having seen it, it sounds like a hard drive problem. Could be dead, could be the boot info has been destroyed (virus?).

ROM setup should be able to tell you more about the hard drive, and whether Setup can see it.

Compaq presario f577cl wont turn on

Turn it on, then hold the power button for 4 seconds until it forces off. Turn on again.

Otherwise, turn on, remove battery, insert battery, turn on.

How to boot from cdrom

I believe you hit F10 key to enter bios. Go to the advanced menu and select boot options. You can select in there what order the computer tries to boot from different options. You need to select boot from CD and put it in sequence before the hard drive. Most bios versions well give you a first, second, third boot device and so on. Set first device to CD rom, second to Hard drive 0, third to none unless you use a floppy drive to boot from (rare).

I need to know how to put windows xp in my compaq evo n610c can anyone help me thanks [email protected]

If you have a recovery disc that came with the computer then you'll just need to boot from it. Now if you don't have a copy of the recovery disc, some computers come with recovery installation from hidden partitions on their hard drive. you'll might need to press on '0' (zero) to boot from the hidden partition and start the recovery.

In case you don't have either of the two, you'll have to purchase a retail copy of Windows XP and boot from the CD by changing the boot sequence from the BIOS. After booting from the CD, it will ask you some simple questions on the installation process and you should be good to go.
