Turntable drive belt slips off?

The NEW drive belt in my old Technics SG2500L turntable keeps slipping off the motor cylinder, any tips on what to do to prevent it? It runs a few seconds fine and then the belt slips right off, and the belt that I got has the same measurements as original, so what might the problem be? Any quick fixes?

If you measured the worn belt, it might have stretched by 5-8% from the original length. Thus the new belt could be too large. I can't find a reference to the original Technics SG2500L belt. However one site, http://www.turntablebelts.com/panatech.htm , suggests that the appropriate belt may be the FBM 23.6" (60 cm). This is the generic belt for a range of Technics turntables. If they list a turntable model, then they know a different belt is needed.

The best way to measure the belt length is to wrap a string or wire around the belt path on the turntable. Follow that path exactly. Mark the point where you overlap the string or wire. (In case you keep your fingers on the end of the string, mark both the start and end points by drawing your line across both sections of the overlapping string.) Remove the string or wire and lay it flat. Measure the length from one mark to the other. That's your true belt length.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: all my vinyl sounds warped on turntable

Most common problem is the belt getting soft, especially if it has sat for a long time. It will get a weak spot where it sat on the drive pulley and every time the turntable goes around and hits that weak spot it will slow down a little making it sound like a warped album.

The belts are usually very easy to replace. Usually just lift off the turntable or there might be a small clip on the center pin, then it lifts off. Replacement belts can be ordered from several places, as shown in this search... http://www.google.com/search?&q=SL-B200+Technics+turntable+belt

presuming you are talking about the SL-H350 as in the body not the SL-DZ1200 as in the title

SOURCE: Turntable belt drive keeps slipping off.

I have a Linn LP12. At least in the case of my turntable, that's just how you are supposed to use it (i.e. this is what the manual says). You could get a replacement belt f you like, but I would guess it will not make a difference - that is, I think you do not need a replacement belt.

However, in my case I don't have to be very careful about the start-up push on the turntable, just one tweak to get it rotating at about the right speed is enough in my case.

SOURCE: Technics SL 1600Mk2 turntable works, but turns off seconds later

The SL1600MK2 is a direct drive turntable. Meaning that there are multiple electronic components which make it turn. With that said, the only place you can start is the main circuit board. Unfortunately, this will not be an easy diagnosis without the proper testing tools - multimeter, and a scope to get you started.

Otherwise, you'll have to take it to a service technican for repair.

Unfortunately, all parts for this model are discontinued, so if it's something that is specific to this unit, it will be very hard to source parts.

Need Instructions to replace belt on panasonic SL-5N Turntable

To replace a turntable drive belt.

1, Remove the rubber platter mat to expose the platter.

Note the new belt should sit on the platter pulley and not fall off when the platter is flipped over the correct way up.

When changing speeds between 33 and 45 always be sure that the platter is turning to ensure proper placement and rpm.

All the best, John. [email protected].

After 14 years my Technics SL-BD22 Turntable has a disfunction The electric motor turns slow.

Your turntable is probably belt driven so most likely motor is turning okay but belt is slipping.
They are easy to change, first just lift rubber mat on platter and you should be able to see the belt through a access hole in the platter.

Hello My turntable do not spin

This turntable is a belt driven type. The belt wraps around the underside of the platter and the drive motor spindle. If the belt has slipped off, broken or is so old that it is slipping - the platter will not turn. Usually you can remove the rubber cover on the top of the platter to use access openings beneath to put the belt back on.

The turntable product brochure, owner's manual and related info is available from Pioneer, here.

I hope this helps!

The turntable isnt driving at full speed

It looks like a belt driven one to me so that's your first check. It might have become slack an slipped down. If that doesn't solve the problem it could be the motor playing up, or the power to it is weak.

THE BELT ON MY TURNTABLE SLIPPED OFF AND NOW I AM HAVING PROBLEMS OF GETTING IT BACK ON. THE BELT IS NOT CATCHING THE PULLY THAT IT IS SUPPOSE TO CATCH ON TO.

Normally the belt does not go thoough any special tensioners or anything of that nature,The belt should go directly from the spindle motor onto the inside of the platter. Hook the belt on the motor section and lay the belt open wide inside the turntable. Next, replace the platter and manouvre the belt onto the platter inside, through the two large holes. Move by hand slowly to see waht happens. If the belt slips off again, it may be streched and needs to be replaced

Changing the belt on a Technics SL-3 (Linear tracking) turntable

Instructions on installation of your drive belt - this also applies to other brands as well - however this belt is only for the Technics models listed above:
  1. Remove the turntable platter off from the turntable
  2. Remove the old/damage belt
  3. Wrap the new belt underneath the turntable platter - you will see a small lip on the bottom of the platter. Wrap the belt around this lip.
  4. Put the platter back on the turntable
  5. The turntable platter will have small holes, rotate the platter until you see the motor, and the motor shaft.
  6. Pinch the belt, so that it wraps around the motor shaft
  7. Turn on and enjoy!

Technics sl-1610 mk 2 turntable

Unfortunately, it does sound like a drive issue. Just so you know, these units are direct drive, so there is no physical motor. It's just a bunch of various circuits which drive the unit, and if any one of them go bad, it will affect your turntable speed. You will need to have this looked at by a service technician to determine which circuit is faulty.
