Try Holding The Screen Up to A Bright Light And Look at it from an angle to see if you can see windows running without the light.... If you can..... The Problem Is Either Your LCD Bulb (needs Replacing) or It's the Power Inverter....

If.. You See No OS Running .. Just Black You Could Need Either A New Display ... or your Video Card/Chip is Shot...
Try Connecting an external Monitor if able to..... If It SHows Up On An External Monitor then Your Video Card/CHip is Good..

If You Get No Display, But The Black Screen Lights Up.... It Is Either The Display Cable Or The Display Panel Itself....

My toshiba Satellite l455d-s5976 will power up but screen stays black. Now this problem has been reoccuring since maybe last week where my stepfather left it on and it locked itself. I tried to turn it on...

when the laptop is off hold the power button until 1) the screen goes on or 2) it turns on. if 2 then try connecting a monitor to the laptop and reboot.

Look through the ventilation slits at the back of the TV with the room lights out. If you do not see white light light bleeding through the back, you have a back light failure. It could be the inverter circuit which lights up the CCFL ( cold cathode fluorescent lamp ). You will need professional help to replace it and could cost you about 70 to 100 $ to fix.

I have a vaio model PCG 792L and when I press power switch the lights power as if going to turn but screen remains black, laptop does not turn on.

The issue might be due to various reasons such as corrupted display drivers

If the notebook appears to boot up and the hard disk LED is flashing and the LCD screen remains black, then the problem could be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp.

The screen remains black when i turn it on. The power button turns green and blinking but the screen remains black.

try using the Fn + F?key (has a graphic of a monitor)F5 or F7 to switch the system from external monitor to the laptop ... you probably have it in presentation mode for external monitor.

Monitor Turns off

Have you turned off the hibernation?, that would be your first priority. Check the settings again to make certain in the Power configuation has been set to never for all settings for both power abd battery for the time being use them and then try again?
