Hp w2338h too dark

WHenever I'm gaming, currently WoW, if I go ino a dark area my monitor dims down. I'm guessing this is some built in matching thing... but it's noticable, it does it over two to three seconds. It's really... irritating and non-engrossing. How do I turn this awful feature off?

SOURCE: screen goes dim under different user

could be an issue of his resolution and refresh rate settings are close to being out of range for the monitor. Try lowering these settings to get better performance.

SOURCE: I have a HP w2338h monitor that goes blank

It is most likely a bad power supply... I have had aboit 4 diff monitors do this to me... most common is under rated capacitors in the internal power supply... some times there could be a black light going out witch causes higher current draw on the power supply ( witch can take out the caps, fusses, transformers ( caps and transformers when they get week and bad can cause the buzzing sound ( on some times with a radio near buy then the monitor is acting up with blanking out and buzzine the radio will pop and buzz as well witch is a sign that there is arching going on IE. caps and transformer are most common for that )))

hope this info helps

SOURCE: My fairly new HP W2338H

as you have stated that it's new monitor so it cant be problem with the monitor. To check if the issue is with the monitor or is with the CPU .. you need to unplug the VGA cable from the Cpu..then your monitor will show message that there is no signal cable or something like that. If monitor show's such message then there is a problem with you CPU. Or you can check by switching on the CPU and press the NUM lock at the keyboard if the num lock is blinking by pressing then in that case your CPU is fine. And you need to get checked your monitor by some technician coz it can be then need to fixed by a technician ... Please vote and rate if it helps you .

Screen goes dim seconds after opening can’t make out what’s on it

wow a real computers question
but no PC stated. make nor model.
desktop or laptop
what OS do you run.
if a laptop,(why must I guess?)
ALL or most laptops dime for these reasons. (all)
1: the room is dark and the auto dim is turned on.
2: the laptop battery is bad or weak and it auto dims the screen to extend the run time, dim uses less power.
3: the LCD is dimmed in the control panel ."brightness wrong"
4: the LCD back lamps on all PC <=2010 all are dim now.
both monitors and laptops that old or older, are doomed.
<= means less than or equal to....

Monitor dims when we turn lights off in room.

You need to give a more detailed description of the problem.
The LG 47LH90 is an LED backlit TV with 'local dimming' technology. This means that there are lots of white LEDs behind the screen and these can be controlled in groups to allow localised areas of the screen to be dimmed to produce better contrast between light and dark. It is very likely that when the room is dark, this local dimming is more noticeable. The actual individual LEDs cannot be controlled and so the area that is dimmed will generally be greater than the area that is required to be dark 'blooming effect'. In addition, LED backlit displays only maintain their contrast through a tight viewing angle. If you sit too farto the right or left, then light from non-dimmed LEDs will leak through and the screen will look lighter.
In short, there may not be any fault with your TV.

Just moved & set up my computer with HP w2338h monitor with built-in speakers, it does not play sound. I've restored factory settings, checked volume & mute, turned off/on, double checked all...

Try the following:
  • Right click the speaker icon in your icon tray > click playback devices, see if you can see your monitor there as an option, and if so, right click it and click "Set as default device"
Hopefully that helps!

My hp w2338h monitor randomly goes to sleep only when I play games. I have turned set hybernation to never in power options, updated all drivers and this still happens I have also plugged in another...

ok , we've answer that question here , vast endless times.
all old monitors before magic year 2010 even go to sleep
all by them selves to save the pathetic, CCFL tubes insid it.

so learn to use the monitors OSD screen.
push the menu button there(real button)
see that? now turn off sleep.
i will now read the manual to you.
3 seconds latter (manualsdir.com)

page 33
turn off the time and all sleep function INSIDE the monitor
amazing no? RTM still works in the year 2018...
