Dell Latitude D630 Notebook Logo

My Dell Latitude D630 has a blank screen.

I can't even choose to go into safe mode or anything, it's just a blank (grey) screen. Everything sounds like it's running, but the screen wont work. Before, I would just plug it into the monitor and when it's booting press Fn F8, but even that isn't working. How do I fix it?

Well, I took it to the shop, they took everything apart and put it back together. Then I asked them to delete everything. Works fine now, thanks though =)

Check your hardware light on the exterior of your computer and see if it is lit and blinking. If it is, you have an operating system, but just can't see it. That tells me it may be several things:

1. The LCD cutoff switch is in the off position
2. Toggle (Fn) the display to the internal settings of the LCD panel. It may be set to display an external monitor only
3. Plug in an external monitor. If it doesn't display on the external, after pressing the Fn key you have a failed video adapter. If it does display on the external it is most likely a back light or inverter failure.

SOURCE: Dell latitude d630 won't boot up.

Can you boot in a Safe Mode with no problem? If you can try to use System Restore to return Laptop to previous state. Go Start----->All Programs------>Accessories----->System Tools-----> System Restore It's easy to use and it may return your system to time when it worked properly. Good Luck!

I have a Dell Latitude D630 and the display, even on the BIOS screen, looks like six small EGA displays displays on the screen. The display is duplicated once across and three times down the screen. ...

Try booting in safe mode with networking (press and hold F8) after pressing power button. Once in safe mode check display drivers are up to date, and try again.

Another way to check might be using any linux bootable CD. TO do this, download any liveCD image of any flavor of Linux, burn on a CD and boot off of it from this laptop. If the same thing happens, then its a hardware issue

Hope it helps!

Dell D600

Sounds like a driver might have gone AWOL. Can you go into safe mode? Usually by pressing F8 after the Dell logo you will be prompted to go into safe mode.

Go insto safe mode and once inside restart the computer. This will repair anything that may have shutdown improperly.

If you can, also change the resolution to the least available, normally 800x600. Once you get back into the "normal" session, you can set it to your liking.

See if this works for you.
