Re: Can't convert DSS 30 WMA file to MP3
You will need to search for a third party program that will allow you to convert WMA files to MP3 as the software that came with the recorder does not allow for this option. Go to google and search for WMA to MP3 conversion programs. There are several free shareware programs available.

The Olympus DS-71 has two recording format WMA & PCM WAV. The Software that comes with the recorder is Olympus DSS Player version 7 , you have to upgrade your software from Version 7 to Standard (free) after you upgrade to Standard version you can convert to DSS go here for the update :
It is not possible to convert WMA files to MP3 files using the DSS Player software that came with the device. You will need to google search for a third party software that will allow for WMA to MP3 file conversion.
When using the DSS Player v7 software the program is unable to convert WMA to WAV. The option you see there only works when it is a .dss file that needs to be converted to .wav. In order to convert WMA to WAV you will need to locate a third party software program that does this type of conversion.
Go to google and search on WMA to WAV conversion editors.
Best option is to get the person using the recorder which creates the .ds2 files, which is likely to be an Olympus DS-5000, to set the recorder to record audio in "classic mode" which will produce .dss files. Here is a YouTube video on how to set the DS-5000 to record in classic mode.
The DSSPlayer software will not allow you to convert the WMA files to WAV. The recorder on SP uses .DSS as the file type and that file can be converted to WAV using DSS Player. Olympus released DSS Player 7 for VISTA and you will have to have it before the pair will work normally.
You can convert DSS file into wav format with DSS Player 2000 or the latest version. it can only convert it into wav format. after convert into wav format then u can use any other converter to change it into any other audio format. u can use total video converter or Sonic record now multilanguage software.....
best of luck.....
