Took the machine apart and the spindle for the wheel will not move. Belt is not broken. Seems it is locked. Any suggestions to unlock?

Try oiling the machine, since you took the machine apart oil it, use only sewing machine oil, usually you can get it at a fabric store or I think wal mart sells some too.
oil the machine,, let it set for a couple of hours,, put paper towel or old towels under neath the machine because of the oil dripping
then try to turn the handwheel back & forth,, putting slight pressure but not heavy,, DO NOT FORCE IT
if it doesn't break loose oil it again & let it set another couple of hours
then try to turn the handwheel again like before
if that doesn't work then get a can of penetrating oil, & use that,, then wait a couple of minutes & try the hand wheel again & after it breaks loose then be sure to oil it again.
let me know if it helps you

More than likely you need a pneumatic transducer. It's the part that your air tube connects to and that is what actually makes your machine run.

SOURCE: Machine slows down, stops, starts again. Foot control problem?

Yes it does sound like a faulty foot control. The power cord is probably fine, you just need the controller. Ebay is a good source for parts.

When I press the foot pedal down nothing happens...all I do is hear a humming sound like it is sewing but nothing else works.

See if your drive belt is missing or broken. Try looking inside the machine. God bless your efforts.

Why do stitches bunch when using walking foot on 3 layers of quilting fabric?

make sure that the thread tensions are correct for the thickness of material
remember that only the bottom foot walks and draws the material through so it may need a help and be pulled as it sews.

Tighten the pressure foot

We have a sewing machine that was manufactured by Janome. It is a New Home Deluxe Model. It has very little travel on the pressure foot itself versus other sewing machines. I have learned just by using this machine.... If you need to get the foot up high...all you have to do is reach through and grab the pressure foot and while picking it up(not the lever but the foot itself) turn it clockwise just a touch and it will stay up plenty far enough to get larger or thicker material under it to sew. I hope this helps. Thanks and remember "Be Easy!" Neighborsboy

Singer motor hums

You don't say whether your machine is newer or an antique. The model number would really help your helpers help you.

Let's work on your vocabulary a bit: A presser foot, is what holds the material down so the feed dogs and move it through the machine. The foot pedal is pressed to make the machine go. ;)

However this sounds like a machine that needs service... by your explanation of how you change the speed to fast and run it fast... it sounds like one of the modern electronic machines. Since modern machines don't have oiling and greasing guidelines I suspect your machine I well overdue for servicing. Find your local sewing machine tech and take it in. Ask for a "Clean, Oil and adjust timing" and be sure to mention the motor issue. While he's there ask him to check the belts and replace if necessary.

Good luck.

Power won't stop Husqvarna/Viking 6020 sewing machine

grant514 Has pretty much hit the nail on the head but the RF suppressor is located in the motor housing, not the foot pedal. It bridged the terminals where the foot pedal connects. Removing this capacitor resolved the same issue in my machine and given the absence of radio receiving equipment in my home now I have had no ill effects.

White 1600 SpeedyLock. Power, but foot pedal won't engage. Took foot pedal apart, mechanically looks fine-- computer board in there. Do I need a new foot pedal?

When stepping on the foot control, does the motor hum or anything? Or is dead silent? If it sounds like it's trying to do something, the serger probably needs to be serviced. If it's silent, you probably need a new foot control.

I have an old elna super that I love. It recently started sewing on it's own without my pressing the foot pedal. Is the motor going or is it a cord/footpedal problem?

It is almost a given that it is a foot control problem. The original foot control and its parts are not available, but generic foot controls will work. Don't allow the machine to sit humming on low, it will damage the motor.
