Screen adjustment I have a CT-36D30 panasonic TV. How can I adjust the the picture to fit the screen on eather side? I have about 2" black strip on each side. top and bottom are ok. Also I can not get the original or a universal remote to work. Bith remotes stoped working at the same time. THX

I'm pretty mechanicly inclined. Is this something I can get the part and replace?

Also the remote is OK. I have 2 remotes that workes on the TV and both stopped working at the same time. There are times I can get the original remote to work for about 10 seconds after the TV is turned on manualy to adjust volume but will not turn the TV on or off.

Thanks Again for the input. :-)

The remotes dont work so now you cant get into the service menu and crank up the horizontal width thats because the micro no longer has eerom memory to correct the deflection circuits two possible causes a chip resistor ( i forget the value in the front of the pcb and on bottom is open and not supplying dc to the remote reciever and/or the eerom its been a while since i saw that problem

Something is going bad in the horizontal deflection circuit, you should not have to adjust at all,if this part fails (possibly a capacitor)all the way is goin to take the output transistor and a fuse ,I suggest you call for assistance now before it gets worst. As for the remote you can find it in Google.com,just put the model number of the tv and the word remote and all the information you need will show up.If you are familiar with tv service you want to take a look for overheated components close to the flyback but if you are not too familiar be safe and ask for help.

check the tail end of the picture tube do you see a light on it?that is the heater of the picture.without it your screen will be black. If there is no light from the heater there should be an open resistor connected to he heater replace them. .next check the screen adjustment of your plyback.screen adjustment is right in the body of the plyback there are 2 adjustment in there the upper is the focus adjustment and the lower is the screen adjustment turn it clockwise untill you reach the preferred adjustment.. tnx

Desktop does not fit widescreen - there are black strips on sides

Going though your computer settings will not adjust the black parts on the screen,
What you need to do is adjust the settings on the screen, if there are no buttons on the screen you may need to read your manual.

Sides of the picture are encroaching and making watching bothersome. Can this be adjusted by the consumer in some way?

this is most likely a problem with a capacitor going back in the horizontal stage of the tv's circuit. if the tv has a horizontal knob on the front somwhere you may be able to expand the width of the picture for while but eventually the problem will continue in which case if you know someone who knows how to replace electronic components the bad capacitor(s) will need to be replaced or the tv will have to be replaced.

Color has degraded, not much white, or green

Since yo're getting a good picture from DVD then TV is OK. Replace (reset it first) the box.

PANASONIC 36" TAU --- NEED HELP

Sounds terminal. Companies build things with "planned obsolescence" in mind. In other words. You buy a TV today, and the warranty says it's good for 4 years. 4 years and 3 months later, it dies.

I hope someone else can help you.
Good Luck!
