SOURCE: replacing the oven door to the Whirlpool electric range RF375PXE

There is a hole in the hinge, for placing a pin, to hold fully open. Two man job. One forces the hinge into the fully open position; the second inserts the pin (nail) into the hole.

Eaton viking imperial electric, stove oven door will not close completelty; circa 1996. are replacement hinges still availible?

To the owner of the Eaton Viking stove RS3028W-1, yes you CAN get replacement hinges!
I too, have this stove model (circa 1996) with exactly the same problem and I have spent the past 18 months looking for replacement oven hinges. I was very frustrated at the thought of having to throw out a stove that cooks and bakes wonderfully and has not needed any repairs till now and having to buy one of the new subpar ones that constantly need repairs. Plus you can't do canning on the new stoves and the few remaining coil models are extremely poorly made.
I have found 2 places that carry the hinges.
1. Reliable Parts, 1-800-663-6060. This company is located in Montrea (St. Leonard), Quebec.
2. Appliance Shark, 1-800-663-1176. This company is located in Barrie, Ontario.
The part number for the hinge is: 318-024-741

I hope this is helpful, and may you have many more years of happy cooking on this great stove.

Is there a fuse on the Viking Pro freestanding gas model? Can't find anything in the manuel. Thanks

Hm, there is a hi limit switch between the range top and oven cavity. Ck your door to see if its sealing . If heat is escaping have a servicer look at your hinge receivers so the door will seal.

My viking oven door has literally fallen off the left hand side hinge - is this a diy FIX?

The door slides onto the two hinges and is held in place with two gravity operated latches. I'm not sure of the condition of your range but it sounds like the door was forced or lifted rapidly allowing the one side to release. The only solution I know of is to remove the other side and reinstall. The hinges have multiple locking positions so the next time you are cleaning your oven, open the door about 8 inches, find the small latches in the door hinge groove, and hold them upwards as you lift the door towards yourself.
The hinges should remain slightly opened. For installation, lower the door onto the hinge posts and pull it outwards slightly.

I have a viking VGIC365-6bss I pre-heated oven to 500 degrees and now the oven door will not open.

One of the door hinges was loose. You have to lift the door by the handle to open it.

Viking 36

The door can be removed from the hinge assembly by lifting upwards and outwards while the door is only slightly open - no hardware needs to be removed to get the door off. My door VGIC366 hinges did the same thing a few years ago, and simply cleaning them fixed the problem entirely.

Oven door hinge adjustment...?

Regarding the oven door not closing all the way and dropping suddernly to the floor, I called a local authorized service company and asked if there was a door spring (no). So the recommended solution is to have the hinges replaced. However, since the oven door didn't really hold its open position from the beginning, when it was brand new back in 01, I'm going to see if a new Viking oven has the same defect as ours. Then, it would seem like a good idea to take a chance on having it repaired.

Is replacing a set of oven door hinges something a person with reasonable mechanical aptitude can do?
