It was working just fine an hour ago. Now nothing! I've unplugged the cords and plugged them in again and still nothing.
SOURCE: Sewing machine sews only in reverse.
To all the people with this problem. What has happened is the reverse mechanism has stuck, this is often due to not being used for a while or the machine has not been oiled properly, which is hard to do for a user as you virtually have to remove all the covers.
If this particular machine has a screw on cover at the end where the handwheel is, remove it and look inside, you will see the mechanism, what you need to do is push it back out, then oil it but make sure you work the reverse button in and out while you oil it and check it works freely, then just refit the end cover.

I believe these are the UL code and serial number. If there is a display band of decorative stitches on the front of your machine look on the bottom right of that panel. If the number there is a VX-920 there is no manual available for it BUT you can use the manual from the VX 970 which IS available. Do a search for that model manual in Spanish and you should find one.

If you look at the Brother global site, there may be a dealer nearby in Middle East, or certainly in Europe, ...the power plug fitting may then need adapter or replacing to suit socket in SA
Do you have family/friends in the "old country" who could send you one ?
Testimonial: "I have a mailbox that forwards to the Middle East and where I am staying is all 110V. So it is quite possible that I'll have to ship one from the USA."

If you have any problems with sewing machines with electronic boards or if the machine is computerised it is wise to take it to a specialist for repair.

http://www.mastersewusa.com/accessories.html
http://sewingpartsonline.com/
And finally, Brother's website: http://www.brother-usa.com/homesewing/
Good luck and let me know if this works.
