Try turning it on without the battery, the fault is the same as what happens when the battery has an internal short or a failure in the charging circuit.

My laptop said fan error and just shut off. I removed the keyboard and blew the fan and now it won'tt turn on period

This is the way to "hard-reset" the laptop...
1. unplug the power cord from the laptop.
2. remove the laptop's battery.
3, press the power button, for more than 30 seconds, then release power button.
(in theory - that will drain the laptop).
4. reinstall the battery and power cord.
5. Press power button, and see if it works now.

HOWEVER; IF you blew out the fan, AND the fan was allowed to "over spin", you may have damaged the fan.
(Think high speed "whining sound")

The proper way to clean the fan is to...
1. unplug the laptop's power cord.
2. remove the battery.
3. gently place a small wire or paper-clip, into the fan blades, through the grid-work (from bottom of laptop), and hold it there.
4. NOW use the "canned air" (NOT an air from a high-pressure air compressor pump) and carefully blow out the vents (side/bottom/back/whatever).
5. remove any "fluff" that doesn't want to come out, with tweezers, or a small hooked end wire/paper-clip.
6. reinstall the battery and power cord.

I hope this will help.

Computer charges but doesnt want to start up

Remove battery
unplug power cord from laptop
press and hold power button for a least one minute while power cord and battery are removed
insert power cord only
turn on laptop
laptop should turn on without battery installed
if it does not turn on you probably have some motherboard issues
.......
then install battery if it still does not turn ...and try to turn on
it still may turn on...I have seen stranger things happen with computers

**************
you may also want to try another power cord if you have an extra...the power cord may not be allowing enough power to travel thru cord

Dell Inspiron 6000 powers up, caps lock flashes 9 times, then laptop shut down. Why???

Unplug power cord from laptop, remove battery from laptop. Open memory access panel on the bottom of the laptop. Remove memory module(s) (SO-DIMM). Plug power cord back into laptop. Turn laptop on (with the memory removed), the caps lock and scroll lock LEDs light, then the laptop shuts itself off. Unplug power cord from the laptop. Reinstall the memory modules. Make sure they are seated correctly. Put the battery back in, plug the laptop back in, and power on. Laptop should power on and boot up properly.
May need to hold the power button down to get it to power on properly.

Screen says carriage jam. can't find

Hi there

Follow these steps and your problem will be solved

* Turn off the printer by pressing the Power button

* If the optional HP Internal Battery is not installed in the printer, unplug the printer power cord. Wait about 10 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.

* If the optional HP Internal Battery is installed in the printer, unplug the printer power cord, if it is plugged in. Open the battery compartment cover and remove the battery. Wait about 10 seconds, then reinstall the battery. If desired, plug in the power cord.

Turn on the printer. The printer checks for paper in the paper path and will automatically eject the jammed paper. Press OK to continue.

If the paper came part way through the front of the printer, gently pull the paper towards you to remove it.

If the paper did not come part way through the front of the printer, try removing it from the back of the printer like this

1 Remove the paper from the In tray, then push in the catches to release the in tray.

2 Open the In tray to a horizontal position.

3 Gently pull the jammed paper to remove it from the back of the printer.

4. Before you lift the In tray to close it, make sure it is pushed all the way to the right on its hinges.

5. Lift the In tray up until it snaps back into paper-loading position

Open and close the pen door on the front of the printer to make sure it is securely latched.

Good luck

Won't turn on

*Unplug the AC cord
*Remove the battery
*Locate the memory cover on the underside of the notebook
*Unscrew the one or two screws securing the memory cover, and lift up to remove the cover
*Gently slide (away from one another) the metal retaining clips that hold down the module.
*The module should pop up
*Remove the module
*Reinstall the module (removing and reinstalling the module is apparently enough to rectify the contacts)
*Replace the module cover and the battery
*Attach the power cord
*Try to power up
