Question about Compaq fs740 17" CRT Monitor

3 Answers

Compaq Monitor My monitor won't even come on... When I turn on the PC, and the monitor, the green light turns amber and then Orange- like how it does when I put it on stand-by. All the electric cords are plugged in but the monitor is "hibernating" constantly... I can even hear the start up tune that's played but no response from the monitor. Thanks in advance for any info I can get. :)

Re: Compaq Monitor

OK All these Compaq's have a Power Supply problem, or a Horizontal Voltage problem.. meaning they are on the way out. The SMPSU's in these units often fail along with the Horizontal Drive Circuitry. I think it is time for a new one? Repair of such a unint would barely be "Ecconomical" IMHO.

Dell monitor starts well goes on a green light shows then it blacks out and the light on the front turns to amber(yelow)

The lamp goes "orange" when no "signal" is detected.
Check that the "video" cable is tightly-connected to both
the computer and the monitor.
Try the monitor on a different computer.
Try a borrowed monitor on your computer.
Try a different video-card inside your computer.

The monitor itself is black, and the power light is changing color from green to yellow to orange and flickering.

Hi there!
Changing the monitor light from green to yellow/orange/amber means that the monitor is in power saving mode. Make sure that the video signal cable is properly connected to the back of the monitor as well as to the computer.
Hope this helps.

My monitor won't show the display even though it is turned on

There may be problem in Monitor or VGA Card. When you Turn on PC the Monitor light is green after 10 second if It will be orange . It means your monitor is alright . but problem in you VGA Card. When the PC turn on there is any beep. If no beep then your RAM is alright. Problem in VGA Card.

The monitor will not turn on. When power button

First--was it working?
Did it suddenly stop?
When you see the LG logo, then it goes away, does the power light turn from green to amber? Sounds like that doesn't happen.
So--if you are getting a signal, you should see something.
If there is no signal, then the power light should change from green to orange.
With no lights at all, I suspect a faulty monitor.

Hi Master, can you help me how to fix mag innovision model 468P when i turn on the monitor in a second the monitor will automatically off display and change the light power from green to orange.? please...

from green to amber could be one of many things,1 video grapics card malfunction,,,2,, dry joints in the mother board..3 bad data cable ,,pc to monitor cable vga,,failing power supply,,,,i suggest you open the pc remove the data cable to you floppy while it is off remove memory stick clean with a damp soft rag or tissue reinsert when allowed to dry for 10 mins and then restart pc without the speakers web cam and anything except mouse keyboard and restart ,if it does same thing then your problem lies in *********** board, thus you need a new one

Green-Amber-Amber Code?

I know that my post is very belated, but I think, will be helpfull for someone henceforth...
First of all, there is one "chronic" problem with LG monitors: solders. Check soldering of Video Amplifier IC303, Flyback Transformer, Q833( ! 210V) , deflection coils socket, Vertical IC601, XTAL X401 and so on...
In Your case, probably the cause of "green, amber, amber" lights is lack of 15V on the Verical Amplifier IC601. DPMS is activated, and monitor does not work at all, even power off.
Replacing Q912 (2SA1273) solve the problem. I replaced him with 2SA1680 PNP 1A 900mW 60V, and all is OK.
This problem is fundamental for ALL 17'' Flatron monitors, repaired by me (over 30).

Wish Happy Repairing!

Best regards, Ico.
