Hi this is really confusing me, I?ll begin with the specs.
Computer is a Compaq presario SR5030NX P4 3.2 GHZ, 1 Gig Ram, running win vista home basic.
The monitor is a mag innovations 19-inch LCD, model no# LT926W.
This problem began just over 2 weeks ago: Whenever the monitor is no signal/amber light showing for more than approx. 40 minutes, but the computer is up and running, so I move the mouse to power the monitor, well the monitor wakes fine (green power light displayed), but the screen is solid white, remains whites for say 5-10 minutes, and I can get the normal display by shutting off the monitor manually, then switching it back on. Get the same symptoms, when it?s woken from sleep or standby modes?
When I boot it from shut down in the morning, right away as soon as the amber power light turns green, the white screen pops up, the pre windows vista load up it blinks, not fast, from total white screen to black, then then white then, black screen, the back screen, the back to the white, then while vista loads (pre welcome screen- I hear the music), it blinks 2 times as before, and when vista is done loading (this boot just takes about 1 minute), the white screen is present for 5-10 minutes, get the normal display when it is manually turned off and then on.
If the PC is put into sleepstandby modes, if the monitor sleeps, but computer is up, and even if it is started after shutdown the monitor displays normal, as long as the monitor, has not been no signal/amber light for 40 minutes
If more than 40, it remains white, even if it is restarted for the 5-10. once monitor displays, it is normal all day, good picture no probs as long as not no sinal for 40+ minutes.
think it may be the signal cable from PC to monitor, did realy tighten it already?
Your monitor is telling you it's on it's last legs..either that or your compaq has a bad video section. either is more vital than a video cable being loose.

argh, but oh well, plan to take the PC in to the shop end of April, to at least get it cleaned out, I'd crack the case and do it myself, but have a 3 yr performance plan waranty, and they get all hyper if I go in there myself, but I'll get them to check the PC, if it checks out then, well that narrows my options.
would you suggest then that i rest the monitor often then, and of course i plan taking it in, the end of April if it holds up but before if not...
I'd have to say that it must be the monitor, since it worked normal for about 6.5 month, and i don't beleve I changed a setting to cause this, but i'll see...
