As for what /type/ of card, you should be able to determine what type of expansion slot(s) your computer has from the user manual, or by opening the case. I know the Gateway SX2803 25e has a free PCIe x16 slot.

not powering up does not mean the mother board is bad , the power supply going bad is more likely to be the problem . But your tower is considered to be a mini tower ive got the same one that I replaced the mother board on . dont mess up and get the wrong size board , it will not fit!
